What's the story?

WWE 2K18's announced on Twitter today that six singles competitors and a tag team will be available to purchase as DLC for the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. The first announcement was the guitar-playing brawler Elias as seen in the tweet below:

In case you didn't know...

A big DLC announcement was made yesterday when 2K announced that Matt and Jeff Hardy will be available to purchase at a later date. The Hardy Boyz made their return to the WWE at WrestleMania 33 after a decade away from the company.

The heart of the matter

In addition to Elias, the legendary tag team the Rock & Roll Express make their way to the game, presumably for the first time ever in a legends pack, as well as 2017 WWE Hall Of Famer Beth Phoenix.

There are several NXT Superstars that will make their way into WWE 2K18, including Ruby Riot, current NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, and Aleister Black. One other addition to the DLC pack is quite the surprise as relative newcomer Lars Sullivan will be in the game as well. Take a look at the tweet announcing Sullivan below:

Sullivan made his television debut with NXT this past April, where he tag teamed with lesser-known wrestlers who lost their match, and Sullivan proceeded to beat them up afterwards. Sullivan is in his first singles feud on NXT television with No Way Jose.

What's next?

The release of WWE 2K18 is just around the corner. If you purchase the Digital Deluxe or Cena Nuff Editions of the game, the release date is October 13th, while the worldwide release date for the game is October 17th on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The game will release sometime this fall for the Nintendo Switch as well.

Author's take

There are some great DLC options for the WWE Universe to be able to purchase for WWE 2K18 this year. They add great depth to the NXT roster, while I'm personally excited to see the Rock & Roll Express in the game, as I grew up watching them in the NWA back in the 1980's.

The biggest shock of them all was the announcement of Lars Sullivan as DLC, considering he's just getting his feet wet on NXT television. This tells me that the WWE has big plans for this intimidating character going forward.
