The finals of the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from March 8 to 19, 2012. Under the new qualifying format, 16 nations played to qualify for the tournament proper with the hosts only chosen after the eight finalists had been decided.
In Group A hosts Nepal take on the Maldives, Palestine and Turkmenistan; while in the tougher Group B defending champions North Korea take on former champions India and Tajikistan plus the Philippines.
