Amitabh Bachchan silences a Pakistani journalist after he mocks India's performance at the Games
Big B has taken to Twitter to silence the mockery against India's medal winners.
Amitabh Bachchan has used social media platform Twitter to show his support for Rio Olympics 2016 bronze medal winner Sakshi Malik. This came after a Pakistani journalist mocked the Indian contingent saying ‘the country is celebrating Sakshi’s medal as if they have won 20’.
India’s neighbouring country Pakistan did not win a single medal at the Rio Olympics, whereas India brought two medals home. The Olympics are the biggest sporting extravaganza in the world and to some sportspersons, even participating in the Games is a dream
Out of the 121 athletes, who formed the Indian contingent, only Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu were able to bag medals for the country in Rio.
After Sakshi won the bronze medal, the Pakistani journalist mocked India for over-celebrating her medal. Here are the tweets.
In reply, along with the Bollywood actor, renowned Indian journalist Shekhar Gupta sent tweets addressing the Pakistani journalist Omar Quraishi.
The Pakistani journalist then sent one last tweet.
Sakshi Malik, the 23-year-old wrestler, became the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics, and also the fourth female Olympic medallist from the country, a record which was bettered by PV Sindhu after a couple of days.
Along with the fellow female wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat, Malik is also a part of the JSW Sports Excellence group. The wrestler also received Rs. 2.5 crore from the Haryana Government as an appreciation for winning the bronze medal.
