Hope to make a little bit of difference in the careers of sportspersons: Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid wishes to help a few sportspersons in their careers.
A total of 19 sportspersons, from varying fields, were selected for the Rahul Dravid athlete mentorship programme, which has been initiated and sponsored by GoSports, a sports NGO foundation at a gathering, that was held in Chennai on Sunday.
Expressing happiness over his association, the former right-hander hoped that he could make a small difference in the careers of sportspersons.
“Sportspersons everywhere require crucial interventions at various phases in their careers, and we are seeking to provide them with quality mentorship support and advice through the programme. The idea is to assist them in making the right career decisions.
“They are already heroes. With my involvement, I hope to make a little bit of difference in their sporting careers,” Dravid said.
One of the beneficiaries of the scholarship in 2014, HS Prannoy said that the help from a legend like Dravid does help in the improvement of a player and the advice given to him by him helped him in altering his approach towards his game and that benefited him.
“When a person like Rahul Dravid guides you with his inputs it really gets to you better than any advice from any other source.
“With a wealth of experience behind him, he shares instances from his own life, both professional and personal, whenever we seek him for advice to overcome any difficulty. His guidance changed my approach towards the game and the results started showing up,” the shuttler said.
Indian fencer C.A Bhavani Devi also said that she was happy to get picked in the list of athletes and hoped to get all the mental aspects covered with Dravid’s help.
“I was seeking a scholarship that included financial assistance. I’m happy that I’ve got selected. I hope to get all mental aspects covered under the mentorship of Rahul Dravid,” she said.
