Inaugural Indian Sports and Fitness Carnival culminates in Delhi

The Indian Sports and Fitness Carnival was a grand success

New Delhi hosted the first of its kind sports event -'Indian Sports and Fitness Carnival' (ISAFC) at Thyagaraj Stadium, INA on the 30th of August 2015. Supported by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Delhi Olympic Association (DOA), Delhi Amateur Body Building and Fitness Association (DABBFA) and Physical Education Foundation of India( P.E.F.I), Indian Sports and Fitness Carnival (ISAFC) pulled off a show which was at par with most other sporting extravaganzas to have ensued this year.

The day long extravaganza was attended by many celebrities, including the self proclaimed fitness freak – Bollywood actor Sahil Khan, who heaped praise on the event, saying, “ISAFC was a huge success and at par with the mainstream sports events like IPL, ISL and Pro Kabaddi. I congratulate the organisers for coming up with the idea and conducting it in such a great way.”

“Sports like these and participants who work so hard over their bodies -six packs always go unnoticed but this event gave the bodybuilders a platform and stage for recognition. Such an event has taken place for the very first time in India and I can’t wait for the next stop of the event to come, see and support them,” he added.

About the event:

The event kick-started with the Arm Wrestling Championship (Under the guidance of Delhi Arm Wrestling Association). Gyms across Delhi participated in this activity & keenly contested for the coveted title.

After the completion of the aforementioned - a Sport, Health & Fitness Workshop ensued- the theme for which was - “Job & Business Opportunities through Sports, Health & Fitness.”

Various speakers who took the stage included Rajpal Singh, Director & Head - FICCI, Sahil Khan, Gaurav Thakur, Associate Director- Delhi Olympic Association, Som Tugnait, Vice President of DABBFA, Sunita Godara (Asian Marathon Champion) and Meenakshi Pahuja (International Swimmer, Limca record holder for open waters, Assistant Professor, Physical Education, LSR College) along with Piyush Jain , Secretary, Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI).

Later, Ekaterina Jindal, the Zumba trainer also enthralled the crowd with a session which epitomised vigour and passion.
