Indian athletics team consisting of 90 athletes (46 Men and 44 Women,excluding Walkers) will compete in 45 Events to be held during theCommonwealth Games 2010.
The performances of the Athletes during fromApril 2010 till the Inter State Athletics Meet held at Patiala in thebeginning of August have been considered for the selection.
In some of the Events, three athletes are selected to compete, but in otherEvents only a token participation will be considered for the team. Asthere is more than one month to go for the Commonwealth Games, it islikely that few more Athletes may be inducted and those who do notmaintain their performances, will go out. The final names for the 20KM Walk will be announced later.
CWG 2010
The selection of the Athletes for all the four Relay events will bedone after 15th September 2010 although the entries will be filled foreveryone.
The Selection Committee met on three occasions which was chaired byMr. Gurbachan Singh Randhawa and attended by other members namely Mr.Adille Sumariwala, Ms. Anusuya Bai, Mr. Bahadur Singh, Mr. GopalSaini, Mr. Parveen Jolly and Mr. Ravinder Chaudhry.
The Team Management has expressed great hope from this team and we areexpecting best ever results in the Delhi Commonwealth Games. The AsianGames Team will be finalised after the Commonwealth Games on the basisof their performances.
