Beijing, Nov 19 International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach Tuesday presented Chinese President Xi Jinping the Olympic Order in Gold, the highest award of the Olympic Movement, at a simple ceremony here.
Earlier, after meeting each other, Xi congratulated Bach on being elected as the ninth IOC president and thanked Bach for IOC’s support and guidance of China’s sports and the Olympic Movement, especially in the conduct of the Beijing Olympic Games and Nanjing Youth Olympics, reports Xinhua.
The Olympic Order is the highest award of the Olympic Movement and is awarded for particularly distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement, ie. recognition of efforts worthy of merit in the cause of sport
