Italy biggest winner in Cali World Games

Cali (Colombia), Aug 5 (IANS): Italy were the biggest winners from the Cali World Games with a total of 18 gold, 13 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Although Russia led the medals table, Italy took the lead thanks to the decision of the International World Games Association to include route skating, an invitation sport for the games, as a valid discipline to include in the medals table of the games that ended Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Italy obtained gold medals in salvage (5), bowling (3), figure skating (3) inline speed skating (2), billiards (2), fin-swimming (1), route skating (1) and water skiing (1)

On the other hand, Russia received 17 golds, with its best representation in flipper swimming which racked up four golds.

France came in third with 16 golds, six of them in salvage, one in archery, two in bowling, one in fin-swimming, and two each in aerobics, karate and squash.
