London Olympics drew 680,000 overseas visitors

London - The latest official data has shown that the London Olympic and Paralympic Games attracted 680,000 overseas visitors in the three months to September.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said Thursday that during the sports events in July?September, 680,000 overseas residents completed visits to Britain. The overseas visits to Britain were either for the purpose of watching, participating in or working at the London Games.

Some of them attended a ticketed London event while visiting the country primarily for a different purpose.

“There were 90,000 Games related visits in September which is in addition to the ONS’ announcement in October that 590,000 overseas residents completed visits to Britain in July and August in relation to London Games”, said the statistics agency.

Meanwhile, the ONS also announced that overseas residents completed 2.6 million visits to Britain in September, an increase of one percent year?on?year.
