Why Arsenal fans should be proud of the club's administration

We have been very privileged over the years as Arsenal fans, not only by the fantastic, state-of-the-art stadium, that is seen as one of the best in the world, not only by the array of talent that has come through the club year after year, but also by the way our very respectable club is run.

We are part of a small group of Premier League teams that has made a profit after tax deductions, which may not affect us fans directly, but is a very large achievement in itself. Due to this fact, means our club will continue for many a year.

A lot of teams have invested heavily over the years, producing nothing. A great example is Liverpool, spending £35m on Andy Caroll, which may have been the profit from the sale of Torres, but can you see them selling him for more or breaking even on him?

Also, in the summer of 2011, Liverpool spent £63m on Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing, proving, so far this season, to be very pricey, very pricey indeed with just a Carling (or Mickey Mouse as it is known) Cup to show for it.

Downing, Adam and Henderson… poor, pricey signings

Teams such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea etc, are all owned by very rich businessmen, “owned” being the key word. Sheikh Mansour has the ability to throw money at the club and not have a worry in the world.

These people are ruining our beautiful game. We fans pay to watch and support our team, we dedicate years of our lives to the art that it is, and not for a foreign ego maniac to pump money into the teams around us.

Sheikh Mansour… owners like him are ruining the beautiful game

What I am trying to get at is we are run by shareholders, some very rich ones at that! And, although we haven’t seen big investments over the years, we have a great stadium, a fantastic youth system, one of the best managers in the world and a club that will compete at the top level for years to come.

It has been announced this season that we do have money to spend this summer, and we will spend it. There have been rumours flying around that we are close to signing Lukas Podolski. We are also linked with Mario Gotze, Matias Suarez, Javi Martinez and Jan Vertonghen.

Whether you believe these rumours or not, is entirely up to you but one thing I know for sure, is our club is one to be proud of.
