FIFA World Cup 2022 Fixtures


The 2022 FIFA world cup was initially planned to start during the the European off-season in June and July. However, it was later decided to conduct the tournament during the winter season as the temperature in Qatar during June and July are extremely high. As a result, the world cup is scheduled to take place between November 21 to December 18. The Qatar world cup will also be the first ever world cup to be conducted within 28 days.




The first FIFA World Cup 2022 fixture will be between Senegal and Netherland at the Al Thumama Stadium, Al Khor on November 21. Qatar has unveiled 8 new stadiums for the world cup with Lusail Iconic Stadium having the highest capacity(80,000) from the lot.

The final of the FIFA world cup 2022 in Qatar will take place on December 18, 2022 at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. The closing ceremony will also take place in front of 60,000 people at Lusail stadium in the same night.
