The Hungarian Grand Prix is a Formula One race held at Hungaroring, Budapest, Hungary. The race first became a part of the calendar in 1986 and has since been a permanent fixture on the calendar. The race has been often in the past criticized for a lack of action because of the track layout but has also delivered some great action at some of the races. The 2021 edition of the Hungarian Grand Prix will be held on 1 August 2021.
Racing History
The circuit made its debut in 1986 and was the home for another one of the many victories for the all-conquering Williams-Honda. Nelson Piquet would win the Inaugural race at the circuit and then repeat the feat with another victory in the next race in 1987.
The following years would see a change of winners more regularly as Ayrton Senna picked up a win in 1988 While Nigel Mansell would pick up a win in 1989. Williams would however take over with a hattrick of wins from 1995 to 1997 while Ferrari would win 3 out of 4 races from 2001 to 2004.
Mclaren would dominate the track from 2007 onwards as they would win 5 out 6 races from 2007 to 2012. And finally, Mercedes is currently sitting on a Hattrick of wins from 2018 to 2020.
The GP has also been the first-ever GP victory for some legends of the sport with Fernando Alonso winning his First ever race at this track in 2003 while Jenson Button repeating the feat in 2006.
Lewis Hamilton has been the king of Hungary for a while now with as many as 8 wins on this track with Michael Schumacher the second most successful driver here with just 4 wins.
Mclaren has been the most successful constructor with 11 wins to its name. Both Ferrari and Williams are joint seconds with 7 wins.
For the 2021 season, the race would be held on 1 August 2021.
