About Hungarian ATP Open

The Hungarian Open is a professional men's tennis tournament which is part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour. The matches of this tournament are played on outdoor red clay courts. It is the first ever ATP Tour tournament by Hungary. The tournament was inaugurated and will be ran by the run by the Hungarian Tennis Association. The 2019 edition of the Hungarian Open will take place from April 22 to April 28.


History

The tournament was played in 2017 where French tennis player Lucas Pouille defeated the British player Aljaž Bedene by 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the title in the singles category. The final match of the doubles category was won by the pair of Brian Baker (USA) and Nikola Mektic (Croatia) against the Colombian pair of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah by 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.


Venue

This tournament is two years and is played at the Nemzeti Edzés Központ in Budapest, Hungary which has remained its official venue since the very first season.


Prize Money

A total prize money of €540,310 have been announced that will be distributed among different athletes belonging to various categories according to their finishing position at the end of the tournament.


Past Winners

In 2018, Marco Cecchinato of Italy defeated the Australian tennis player John Millman by a score of 7-5, 6-4 to grab the title in the Men's Singles category. On the other hand, the pair of Dominic Inglot (Great Britain) and Franko Skugor (Croatia) won the title in the doubles category after they defeated Matwe Middelkoop (Dutch) and Andres Molteni (Argentina) by a margin of 6-7 (8-10), 6-1, [10-8].
