Royal Rumble is an annual pay-per-view event organized by WWE towards the end of January. It marks the beginning of the road to WrestleMania as the winners of the Royal Rumble matches get the opportunity to fight for a World Championship at the grandest stage of sports entertainment. The latest Royal Rumble event was the 37th in history and took place on January 27, 2024, live from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Bayley won the Women's Royal Rumble while Cody Rhodes was the last man standing in the Men's Royal Rumble.

Randy Orton, sidelined by injury in 2022, returned at Survivor Series with fire in his eyes, his sights set squarely on The Bloodline. Roman Reigns, still clinging to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship with the help of his kin, had become Orton's ultimate target. LA Knight, fueled by his own thwarted attempts at the title, promised to dethrone Reigns, but fate had other plans. AJ Styles re-emerged, first backing Knight and Orton against their common enemy, then leaving everyone reeling with a surprise betrayal. His personal vendetta with Knight overshadowed the title chase, creating a tangled web of rivalries.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis organised a triple threat clash between Orton, Knight, and Styles. The winner, he declared, would earn a shot at Reigns at the Royal Rumble. The Bloodline struck the match, leaving all three contenders battered and the match in utter chaos. Responding to the mayhem, Aldis reshuffled the deck. He threw Orton, Knight, and Styles into the Royal Rumble title match with Reigns himself, transforming it into a thrilling fatal four-way showdown.
At WWE Crown Jewel 2023, Logan Paul defeated Rey Mysterio to win the WWE United States Championship, his first title in the company. In December, a 8-man tournament was announced to find his first challenger. Kevin Owens defeated Santos Escobar on SmackDown's New Year Revolution to get a shot at Paul's gold.

For the fans of WWE in the USA, Royal Rumble, like any other WWE PPV, will not be available on the WWE Network as the service has stopped in the country since 2021. Fans can tune in to Peacock TV to stream the superstars throwing each other over the top rope. Elsewhere, Royal Rumble has been streaming on PPV and on WWE Network since 2014 and will continue to do so. So, fans can watch the Royal Rumble 2024 via WWE Network in most of countries. It will air on Binge in Australia. Indian fans can stream the event on Sony Sports Network or the SonyLIV app.
The 2024 edition of Royal Rumble will aired live from Tropicana Fields in St Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, January 27, falling in line with WWE's practice of organizing its Premium Live Events on Saturdays, a pattern it has been following since last year.
It is the first Royal Rumble since 2021 to take place at the Tropicana Fields and the first to feature a live audience. It is also the first Royal Rumble where WWE will not be owned majorly by Vince McMahon after it was sold to TKO in 2023. Further, it was the was first WWE Event where no McMahon was on the WWE roster after Vince McMahon resigned from TKO just a day before. The pre-sale tickets for Royal Rumble 2024 went live on sale in 2024. The same was available for purchase through WWE's official website and on Ticketmaster, WWE's official ticketing partner. The stadium can hold around 25000 fans. The tickets are no longer available for sale.

The highlight of the night is always the eponymous Royal Rumble match. The winner of the Royal Rumble match has traditionally been awarded a match against the world champion at WrestleMania, which is usually the main event of The Grandest Stage of Them All. For WrestleMania XL, the winner of Men's Royal Rumble Match can go for either the World Heavyweight Championship or the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. For the Women's Royal Rumble Winner, the choice remains between the WWE Women's Championship and the Women's World Championship.
For the 2020 and 2021 Royal Rumble, the NXT Championship was also an option for the winner and the same was exercised by Charlotte Flair who challenged then-NXT Women's Champion Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 36. However, the option seems to have been scrapped now. In 2022, The Money in the Bank winner Austin Theory cashed in his briefcase on the United States Champion Seth 'Freakin' Rollins. Thus, it is also possible that the Royal Rumble winner can also use his opportunity on a title other than the world title. However, the probability of that happening is almost zero.
