Leishman cruises to victory in Malaysia
Marc Leishman claimed his first PGA Tour win of the year with a comprehensive five-stroke victory at the CIMB Classic on Sunday.
The Australian carded a fourth consecutive round in the 60s with a seven-under 65 to complete his win in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Leishman, 34, now has four wins on the PGA Tour, but his success was his first since last year's BMW Championship.
He made four consecutive birdies starting at the second hole in the final round before picking up shots at nine and 10.
As the chasing pack struggled to make inroads into his lead, Leishman – who was in a three-way tie for the overnight lead – saw out his win with birdies at the 16th and 18th holes, his only blip a dropped shot at 13.
Emiliano Grillo (66), Chesson Hadley (66) and Bronson Burgoon (68) were tied for second at 21 under.
Two-time champion Justin Thomas found form in the final round, carding an eight-under 64 to climb into a tie for fifth.
