Europe and the United States will fight it out for the Ryder Cup

The 41st Ryder Cup will start on 30 September, 2016 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. It is a biennial men's golf competition between 12-member teams from the United States and Europe. The 3-day event will end on 2 October, 2016.

Teams

The United States team comprises of eight members selected on the basis of a points system, while Captain Davis Love made four Captain's Picks. For the Europe team, nine members were selected by the points system and Captain Darren Clarke made three Captain's Picks. Points are awarded on money won by the players.

The American Ryder Cup team is led by captain Davis Love III and the assigned vice-captains are Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Tom Lehman, and Tiger Woods.

Europe Ryder Cup team

The European Ryder Cup team is led by captain Darren Clarke and the assigned vice-captains are Thomas Bjorn, Paul Lawrie, Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter, and Sam Torrance.

Competition

Morning and afternoon sessions of team play constitutes the first two days of the event. On both days, the morning session will be foursomes (alternate shot), while the afternoon session will be four-balls (better ball). On the final day, 12 singles matches will be held.

Course Information

Regarded as one of the premier golf courses in the Upper Midwest, the Hazeltine National Golf Club is a dream destination for all golfers. It has hosted some of the greatest events of the sport. It is all set to become only the second venue to host the PGA Championships, U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Women's Open, U.S. Amateur and the Ryder Cup later this month.

Europe successfully defended their 2012 Ryder Cup victory in 2014, when they won the 40th Ryder Cup in Scotland on the PGA Centenary Course at the Gleneagles Hotel near Auchterarder in Perthshire.

They defeated USA by 16 1⁄2 points to 11 1⁄2, for their third consecutive win.
