Video: Reaction from the Scottish Open round one

Reaction of the leading players after round one of the Scottish Open on Thursday at Castle Stuart.

SOUNDBITE: (English) John Parry:“Yes, I don’t do it many times a year, so it’s always good. I played really solid today, I don’t think… A couple of holes I had to chip and putt and when I chipped it to about six inches whenever I needed to. So, it felt pretty comfortable today.”

Simon Khan:“Yes, got the line right off the tee, it and it got down the slope and hit the five iron at the last which is nice, gives you a chance to get it close. But generally really pleased. Didn’t play here last year, it was a couple of years ago I played here and remember making a lot of birdies and eagles, but a lot of disasters as well. So, I managed my game well early on and came through at the end there which was nice.”

Shane Lowry:“Yes, I’m pleased with this glory shot today. I played OK, don’t feel like I played great but any day you shoot sixty-six is a good day.”

Phil Mickelson:“it’s a good start to the tournament. I historically have played poorly on Thursdays and put myself so far behind that I’ve been trying to just make up ground. So to play a good solid round feels good and a nice way to start the tournament. With such perfect conditions though there was an opportunity in the middle of the round where I got it going to get something really low. I’ll certainly take 66, but there was a chance because of the conditions and the way I was playing to go really low. I’ll have to work on my touch and get a little bit of fine tuning around the greens, because I let a few shots slide around there.”
