Exercise your eyes

Massage the eyes both ways- clockwise and counter-clockwise

We all know how important it is to keep our bodies fit by going to the gym, jogging, swimming etc. but how many of you are aware that you can exercise your eyes too?

Yes! Exercising your eyes will keep them healthy and minimize eye strain. If you are hoping to get rid of your spectacles by following these simple exercises, you will be disappointed as these exercises cannot guarantee sight improvement but are meant to maintain your best eyesight level during the day and prevent further vision deterioration.

The following activities can be done anywhere, at anytime and will hardly consume a few minutes of your busy lives.

1) Gazing into the darkness- Cover both the eyes with your palms and maintain the position for 2-3 minutes.

2) Side-to-side- While sitting or standing upright, move your eyeballs from left to right and right to left without turning your head. Repeat this about 20 times.

3) Up and down- Again while sitting or standing upright, move your eyeballs from top to bottom and vice-versa. Repeat this about 20 times.

4) Googly- Sit up straight, look to the left and slowly rotate your eyeballs in a clockwise direction. Do this about 10 times and then slowly rotate your eyes in an anti-clockwise direction. Remember keep your head straight at all times.

5) Near and far focus- Focus on a nearby object say about 20 centimeters from your eyes, then focus on a distant object and try to look at it in detail then shift focus onto the near object again. Perform this activity about 15 times.

6) Cooling down- Alright, it’s time to relax now after a tiring workout. Close both your eyes and massage them with both hands in circular movements for about 30-40 seconds.

Try the above exercises twice a day, before rushing to work or school and once again in the evening after a hard day’s work, and notice the visible changes in your eyes.
