Pakistan repeated the score of its previous encounter with arch rivals India and takes the Bronze medal in the ongoing Lanco Super Series Hockey at Perth,WA. The final score line read 5 – 2.
Pakistan put up a brilliant display right from the start. Their defense was stronger and the forwards moved quickly scoring two early goals. After Pakistan netted two goals, India showed some resilience and leveled the scores a Gurwinder singh Chandi. It was 2 – 2 during the break. After the interval, India showed good possession but could not convert into the goal post. On the other end, Pakistan took advantage by pressing the Indian attack too hard and increased the lead. Encouraged by a superb field goal by one of its players, Pakistan marched ahead fast and took away the bronze medal.
The gold medal playoff will be between Australia and England.
