Judoka Kalpana Devi, a head constable of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), won the gold medal in the 52 kg weight category at the Lusofonia Games 2014 in Goa yesterday.

Kalpana defeated Un Si Man of Macau (China) in the final fight.

Kalpana Devi is proven judo fighter, with a host of accomplishments to her name. She won a gold medal in the women’s World Cup Judo Championship held in Uzbekistan in 2010, and she won the bronze medal in the World Judo Grand Prix in Tashkent. The ITBP head constable also won the gold medal in World Police and Fire Games in 2013.

The Lusofonia Games is a mega sporting event organised by (ACOLOP), Portuguese speaking Olympic association, with the participation of 12 national Olympic countries featuring nine sports including judo.
