5 things Dabang Delhi need to do to turn their season around

Selvamani has been very good since his return from injury

Dabang Delhi have had a tough time in the Pro Kabaddi League so far this season but the Eagles would be looking to get their season started now. Having played eight matches so far, the Delhi outfit need to now show why they are still one of the toughest squads out there.

Here, we look at 5 ways in which they can improve their form going forward –

1) Unleash Kashiling Adake

The team from Delhi need to let their star raider Kashiling Adake loose on the opposition and trust his ability to make multiple raids and accumulate a big haul of points. The Dabangs are in dire need of attacking inspiration and who better than Kashiling, the best raider of season 2, to provide the same.

2) Provide support in the form of Surjeet Singh and Selvamani

Dabang Delhi have a good supporting cast of raiders in the form of Surjeet Singh and Selvamani and they need to use them effectively and in small bursts to help support Kashiling well.

Surjeet and Selvamani have both performed ably as the principal raiders, with Selvamani scoring 12 points in his two matches and the team need to see them perform and aid Kashi for Delhi to get their first win.

3) Keep Ravinder Pahal fit and ready to go

Ravinder Pahal (tackling Pawan Kumar here) was back to his best in the match against Bengaluru Bulls

The team’s captain Ravinder Pahal hasn’t been able to recapture his form from last season, but the defender showed a glimpse of his abilities in Delhi’s match against Bengaluru, guiding his team to the win.

The Dabangs need their best defender to get back to his fighting best in order to continue improving their performances and show that they have learnt their lessons.

4) Build momentum for the home leg

Though the team are last in the standings, they aren’t out of the race for a semi-final spot yet. Having played eight matches so far, Dabang Delhi need to start getting more wins so that they can build momentum for the home leg, which starts next week.

Just as it has helped teams so far, the home leg results could propel the Dabangs towards a spot in the final four.

5) Take inspiration from their brothers, Dabang Mumbai

Dabang Delhi have had a slightly relaxed schedule over the past few days in which they would have looked at potential strategies for the coming games, and how to play against different opponents.

They should also look to take inspiration from their colleagues in Hockey, Dabang Mumbai, who made a terrific comeback after a bad start to almost make it to the semi-finals of the Hockey India League, losing out on a spot only in the last league match.
