Will Maninder Singh strike for the Warriors or will the UP Yoddha defence stand tall?

Bolstered by some exciting additions to their new-look squad for Pro Kabaddi 2019, UP Yoddha will be looking to get their campaign off to a positive start when they face off against the Maninder Singh-led Bengal Warriors in the Match 7 of the season at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

The Yoddha opted to retain the services of ace corner defenders Nitesh Kumar and Sachin Kumar ahead of the PKL 7 auctions that gave them some extra space to splurge on procuring the services of quality raiders.

They managed to rope in the services of Monu Goyat and re-signed their star raiding duo of Rishank Devadiga and Shrikant Jadhav from last season. With this trio proving their exploits on the raiding front in the past few seasons, the Warriors' defensive unit will need to bring about their A-game.

Having lost the services of right cover defender Surjeet Singh, the Warriors penned down a massive ₹77.75 lakh contract for Iranian all-rounder Mohammad Esmaeil Nabibakhsh, who with his all-round skill could prove to be the 'X-factor' for the Warriors.

With the addition of raider K Prapanjan and veteran cover defender Jeeva Kumar into the mix, the defence unit looks in safe hands. Overall, both teams boast of quality players and we could be in for a cracker of a contest.

Predicted starting 7s

UP Yoddha: Nitesh Kumar (c), Rishank Devadiga, Monu Goyat, Shrikant Jadhav, Sachin Kumar, Narender, Mohsen Maghsoudloujafari.

Bengal Warriors: Maninder Singh (c), K Prapanjan, Sukesh Hegde, Mohammad Nabibakhsh, Jeeva Kumar, Baldev Singh, Rinku Narwal.

Match Prediction

Both the teams will be led by first-time captains as Nitesh Kumar, on the back of his 'century' of tackle points from last season will be captaining a plethora of stars while Maninder Singh, who has been a Warriors' faithful for the past few years will be leading his side.

The Yoddha have done well to form a formidable raiding trio to assume the raiding duties while the defensive unit will take shape similar to the core of last season, which could give them the slight edge over the Bengal Warriors, who will need their skipper to strike big under pressure.

UP Yoddha could be expected to win this match.
