Commentary

Hello and welcome to SportsKeeda's live coverage of Match No. 26 in the Women's Big Bash League 2021! Two top teams, that look like they could go all the way, take on each other in this crucial encounter. A difference of 4 points at the moment, but if they are for sure two teams to watch out for. Melbourne Renegades Women, take on Adelaide Strikers Women, as both of them look to dominate the season. I am Ankit Sharma, and joining me shortly will be Pranav Danani, as the two of us take you through what transpires in this game!

The Renegades are coming on the back of a winning streak, and have found form at the right time. While Harmanpreet Kaur not be a captain of the side, she has led from the front with the bat, ball and has been extremely instrumental in the field as well. She's shown her calibre, and how she can turn the match around, with just her presence. She's been an immeasurable asset for the Renegade so far, who look to claim their first WBBL title.

Supporting her, has been fellow India Jemimah Rodrigues, Jess Duffin and Evelyn Jones at the topl who is yet to make her impact. But the top order reeks of experience, and has done justice to take up a spot in the team. The batting has been good, and the batters have scored really well in both situations, whether chasing the score, or defending it. They have been up to the task, and will be looking to continue their good run of form.

The bowlers need a lot of credit too, but so does skipper Sophie Molineux, who has rotated her options well, and has constantly kept the pressure on the opposition. The luxury she has, of shuffling between spin and seam, has benefited her immensely, and has been one of the positives of this team. They've been a real tidy group, where everyone has contributed in some way or the other. Courtney Webb has been really good with the ball, as well as the bat, and should be a threat along with Kaur, Rodrigues and others for the Strikers.

Coming to the Strikers now, they'll be delighted Megan Schutt is back in their team, and their lower order can bat them out, but they've suffered a loss just yesterday, thanks to the destruction of Sophie devine, that blew the Strikers away in the super over. But they've got a lot of positives to take away from the encounter. The way they batted deep, and took the game to the super over, despite losing some big wickets early, and the will to fight till the very end is something not everyone is capable of.

The Strikers Women won their first two games, quite convincingly too, but have lost their last two games, and are finding the x factor that takes them over the line. They've got some big names in Tahlia Mcgrath, Dane van Niekerk, Bridget Patterson, etc, but then again, everyone hasn't clicked together. Yesterday they showed a lot of character, and took a game deep, that was not meant to be theirs. They've not lost miserably. which is a positive, and a win today could do them wonders.

Two teams who look fairly even on paper, and even on current form. Schutt will boost the confidence of Strikers, but the Renegades will want to continue their impressive run.
