Sri Lanka won by 34 runs (DLS Method)
Player of the match:
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
That's it for tonight's game, we take your leave. It was a dramatic game between the two teams that started off on a low.
See you all again in tomorrow's clash between India and South Africa. It's a big game. The Men In Blue are finally marching in.
Also, it's a doubleheader day with New Zealand and Bangladesh locking horns at The Oval.
Here are the two captains at the Presentation ceremony:
I think we had a good start after a long time and suddenly we lost a couple of wickets and we were on the backfoot. Bowling and fielding was the highlight. Wickets are the key, 187 is not easy to defend, we know their openers go hard, but once we got them they were on the backfoot and we kept getting wickets. Bowlers did a really good job, fielder did good job, but batting through the middle stage needs to improve.
Start of the day, the bowler's didn't bowl right areas, they scored too heavily in the first ten overs, but it was good how Nabi bowled but it wasn't a good start. Wicket was not easy for the batsmen and so we'd asked the bowlers to hit the deck hard and they came back well during the middle. We need some improvement in the batting, we need more partnerships.
So far Malinga has 46 wickets in the Cricket World Cup. He just overhauled Sanath Jayasuriya's 323 ODI wickets to be the 3rd highest wicket taker of Sri Lanka in the 50-over format. He's behind Muralitharan and Vaas now.
Two defeats in a row for Afghanistan. Sri Lanka managed to win this one after a debacle of a show in their opener against New Zealand. Nuwan Pradeep was exceptional and produced his best bowling figures in ODIs - 4/31 and is the MAN OF THE MATCH tonight. Meanwhile, Lasith Malinga came back right on time and cruised Sri Lanka to victory. However, there were many lows for the Lankans in this game. Too many extras, misfielding and the captaincy blunder from Dimuth which gave away a no-ball for not placing the right number of fielders in the circle during the 3rd powerplay. Kusal Perera was as usual in his impressive form, consolidating the innings at the beginning.
And ALL OUT. Hamid Hassan was way too overconfident with that six he hit off the last delivery but this time it was a full-length yorker, vintage Malinga.
Afghanistan have been bundled up for 152.
32.4 OUT! Bowled. Lasith Malinga to Hamid Hassan. In-swinging yorker, middle stump no foot movement defending, missed to.
SIX and it's drizzling too.
Hamid Hassan has hit a maximum that travelled 83 metres into the stand.
32.3 SIX! Lasith Malinga to Hamid Hassan. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs.
32.2 Lasith Malinga to Hamid Hassan. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Perera.
32.1 Lasith Malinga to Mujeeb Ur Rahman. In-swinging yorker, down leg side on the front foot flick, hit pad to leg gully for 1 run, fielded by Perera.
And GONE! That's nothing but a miracle. There was no other way to get Najibullah out and Dimuth pulls a terrific direct hit.
Nevertheless, well played by the batsman(43 runs off 56).

31.6 OUT! Run Out. Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to extra cover, direct hit by Karunaratne.
31.5 Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Slower ball back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Perera.
NO BALL. A Big big blunder by the Sri Lankan captain.
Sri Lanka did not have enough fielders in the circle and have been punished with a no-ball and free hit.
31.4 FREE HIT. Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Bouncer, outside off stump on the back foot hooking, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Perera.
31.4 FOUR! Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, thick edge in the air uncontrolled past third man for 4 runs.
31.3 Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Short, outside off stump on the back foot hooking, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Perera.
Four! Over the cover, one bounce and crosses the rope.
Not once has Najibullah Zadran looked slightly shaky, even as wickets kept tumbling down on the other side.
31.2 FOUR! Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past deep extra cover for 4 runs.
Isuru Udana is back for his sixth over.
31.1 Isuru Udana to Najibullah Zadran. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pushing, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Perera.
It's true. Malinga is an asset. The veteran can still perform under pressure. What a brilliant over!

30.6 Lasith Malinga to Hamid Hassan. Slower ball half volley, outside off stump on the front foot defending, to silly point for no runs, fielded by de Silva.
30.5 Lasith Malinga to Hamid Hassan. In-swinging full toss, middle stump on the front foot pushing, to mid on for no runs, fielded by Perera.
CASTLED! Right into the middle stump. This is the prime delivery of Lasith Malinga, his vintage yorker.
Sri Lanka get their 8th victim.
30.4 OUT! Bowled. Lasith Malinga to Dawlat Zadran. In-swinging yorker, middle stump no foot movement defending, missed to.
30.3 Lasith Malinga to Dawlat Zadran. Slower ball full toss, down leg side backing away working, to mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Mendis.
Ooooo! Malinga pulls a short one and it hits Dawlat on his helmet. The batsman tries to play the pull shot anyway and misses.
