Afghanistan 198/5 (20 ov)
Zimbabwe 150/7 (20 ov)
Afghanistan won by 48 runs.
Player of the match: Rahmanullah Gurbaz
So, that is it from me, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Prashanth Satish. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda's live coverage of a wide array of cricket matches.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz: If you start very well, it will be good for the series. Every player would want to get a century when they get into such a situation. I tried to play for the team and not for myself. Hopefully, I can score a century in the next few matches.
The Man of the Match is predictably Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Asghar Afghan: The first match of a series is very important, so it is good that we have won this game. Gurbaz and Karim Janat played well. I also played my own shots and we got a very good total on the board. In T20 cricket, Rashid Khan, Fareed Ahmad and Naveen have a lot of talent in overseas leagues. They played well and showcased the talent.
Sean Williams: Winning the toss was a good thing but Gurbaz batted well. Our execution wasn't great but it can happen in T20 cricket. Gurbaz, Karim Janat and the Afghanistan captain played well. So, credit to them. It was a very good wicket and we haven't had much training coming into these T20Is. There were a few positives like the death bowling. Blessing Muzarabani bowled well and even Tiripano did well. As I said, our execution wasn't perfect and we need to get better.
Rashid Khan: "It was a good win for us, it's always nice to start the series with a win. Asghar and Co did well with the bat and we just kept it simple with the ball. Hamza has the experience with the new ball. So it's always good to have that kind of back-up with Mujeeb not there. As a bowler, you need a good total on the board and when you have 160-plus or 170-plus, it makes it easier for you. I will hopefully play some more unorthodox shots in the next two matches."
Time for the Post-match presentation
What a comprehensive win for Afghanistan!! They have registered a 48-run win to kick-off this T20I series. After Rahmanullah Gurbaz's swashbuckling 87-run knock took Afghanistan to 198-5, Zimbabwe were always chasing the game. The Zimbabwe openers Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and Tarisai Musakanda started steadily but it wasn't enough given the asking rate. Kamunhukamwe also slowed down after Musakanda's dismissal in the fifth over while the skipper Sean Williams couldn't get going at all.

The duo of Rashid Khan and Karim Janat bowled superbly through the middle-overs to reduce Zimbabwe to 111-4 after 14.3 overs. Sikandar Raza and Richmond Mutumbami looked good for a while but it was too little and too late from them. In the end, Fareed Ahmad also impressed with figures of 4-0-31-2.
Over: 20 | Summary: 6 1 0 2 1 0 Bowler: Fareed Malik Score: 150/7
19.6 Fareed Malik to Brandon Mavuta, slower ball on a good-length outside the off-stump, Mavuta tries to reverse lap this one but makes no contact at the end. Afghanistan win by 48 runs!
19.5 Fareed Malik to Donald Tiripano, short of a length and following the batsman, Tiripano gets this off the bottom half of the bat to mid-off for a single
19.4 Fareed Malik to Donald Tiripano, short of a length outside the off-stump, Tiripano lofts this one over the cover fielder for a couple of runs
19.3 Fareed Malik to Donald Tiripano, short of a length outside the off-stump, slower in pace. Tiripano tries to make room but ends up finding himself long way away from the line of that one at the end
19.2 Fareed Malik to Brandon Mavuta, short of a good-length on stump line and Mavuta pulls this one away to the deep for a single only
19.1 Fareed Malik to Brandon Mavuta, SIX! Paddle scoop this time, full-length ball on stump line and he gets inside the line of this one and scoops it over short fine-leg for a maximum
End of an outstanding spell from Karim Janat. For me, he has been the pick of the Afghanistan bowlers. Just conceded 14 runs off the four overs while also having taken two wickets
