In an affair encompassed by twists and turns, Australia emerged as deserving winners against the mighty West Indies.
Batting first, the Aussies were reduced to a frightening 38-4, but a rearguard knock from Steve Smith along with a masterful innings of 92 at number 8 from Nathan Coulter-Nile steered the champions to a defendable 288.

West Indies lost a couple of wickets early on, but Shai Hope stood his ground and played a valiant knock. They were cruising, thanks to a half-century from Jason Holder, but Australia held their nerves as they've done so many times over the decades.
Mitchell Starc bagged a five-fer that included the wicket of Jason Holder.

The defending champions avoided a major scare to come out on top, as at once, it looked like Jason Holder would comfortably brush them aside.

Hope you thoroughly enjoyed this thriller, do tune in to Sportskeeda for more coverage on the World Cup, and tomorrow's fixture between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Until then, goodbye.
