When Pakistan finished their batting, there was a question of whether they could defend their total of less than 200, even after a good performance with the bat by their captain Bismah Maroof and Aliya Riaz, and in the end, it turned out to be a bit too easy for Meg Lanning's Australia.

Australia began their run chase with a lot of positive intent to score, and they got going by way of some good back-foot strokes from both openers, especially Rachael Haynes. The bowling from Pakistan was a bit all over the place, as their spearhead Diana Baig sprayed it around and bowled far too short to give away scoring opportunities to Australia.

Alyssa Healey looked a bit anxious to get going at the beginning but made sure not to let spin settle into a good bowling rhythm by using her feet accordingly. Once Haynes departed, she took charge of the proceedings and continued in her free-flowing way, scoring an impressive half-century and also sharing a nice 50-run partnership with skipper Meg Lanning along the way. Healey's domination against spin was the reason why the runs kept coming thick and fast for her team.

Meg Lanning took some time to get going, but once she did, scored some useful runs at her favourite venue to take Australia closer to victory, before Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney finished the job with plenty of overs to spare.

Pakistan were far too inconsistent with the ball, both in terms of line and length. Some of the field placings too were questionable and the attack lacked intensity in the field. There were some important chances created, but they were not taken unfortunately for their fans. Some runs were leaked in the outfield as well by way of misfields.

Part-time off-spinner Omaima Sohail surprised one and all with very good figures of 2 for 39 in her 8 overs, getting the ball to turn sharply. Nashra Sundhu was the other wicket-taker for Pakistan, while Anam Amin tried her best to keep things quiet and apply pressure on the opposition batting.

The proactive nature of the Pakistani bowling and fielding efforts was not quite there for Bismah Maroof's side, as they did not manage to string together some tight overs at a stretch, unable in keeping both batters at the crease quiet. The wickets too eluded them.

Australia now sit pretty on top of the table with two wins out of two, while Pakistan are right at the bottom, with plenty of work to do to register points on the board.

Australia Women captain, Meg Lanning: It was a much better performance all-round today, in the batting we were good against different kinds of spin bowling from Pakistan. We definitely want to take 10 wickets every match but Pakistan batted well to take their innings deep and not give their wickets away. This venue has certainly been good for us, but we will take things as they come. Alyssa is among the runs as well now, that definitely augers well for us.

Pakistan Women captain, Bismah Maroof: I think we gave away too many wickets early on but my partnership with Aliya helped us somewhat but then, our fielding and our bowling in parts did not do us much good. We batted deep today, that is a positive for sure, we in the management have stressed on that. We are improving bit by bit, and we now hope to get the job done in the next match against South Africa.

Alyssa Healy (Player of the Match): It was nice to get a win. Didn't feel very good out there but nice to spend some time out there and get those points heading into the New Zealand game over the weekend. We were expecting the wicket to play the way it played tonight. Probably gripped a little bit more but the pitches have been outstanding so far - obviously with a lot of traffic they've done a terrific job so far. (On her groin injury) It's fine - I'm just getting a little bit old (laughs) so I should take care of my body. But it's fine, no worries. (Preparations for the next game) It's a bit of a switch off and a reset, we'll probably watch the New Zealand game on Thursday before the weekend.

Laced with precision into the gap along extra cover and that'll do for the Aussies with the ball racing to the fence. It's been a canter really - a real dominant display from the Southern Stars! Australia beat Pakistan by 7 wickets with 92 deliveries to spare!

The runs are coming consistently but the Australians have also been helped by Pakistani fielding on a number of occasions. Be it catches being dropped, or runs not being stopped, the fielding from Bismah Maroof's side needs improvement.
