That's all we've got for you from this match but switch over to the GAW v JT match which happens to be a virtual quarterfinal. I, Sudheer and my partner, Bala, are signing off for the moment. Cheers and have fun!
Barbados Royals have finished on a winning note here in CPL 2021 with Kyle Mayers and Glenn Phillips helping the team to a comfortable victory here today. They had some initial hiccups with couple of wickets falling early on in the innings but once Phillips came it, he took it on him to keep the scoring rate going and Kyle Mayers also joined him after his initial stutter inside the powerplay. Both together have seen the team through till the end to chase 191 inside 19 overs.
Royals, with the win in the final game, are done with the tournament and end in on a decent note as have no further part in the tournament failing to qualify to the semifinals.
St Lucia Kings didn;t get their execution right today as the opposition batters dominated in the chase and there was no margin for error. They started off well with the ball picking couple of early wickets but couldn't continue to hold the pressure on the opponents as they failed to break the 3rd wicket partnership. No bowler really looked threatening and that made them falter under the pressure.
St Lucia Kings now have to wait for the result of the match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs and that decides the fate of their qualification for the semifinals.
Andre Fletcher (SLK): It was a good total and backed my bowlers but the execution didn't come off for us. The plans we had didn't go our way and now hope Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Jamaica Tallawahs and help us qualify for the semis. It was a good fight but unfortunate that we couldn't cross the line here. We will try to come back better next time.
Jason Holder (BR). Perfect game for us. Kyle Mayers stepped up today along with Glenn Phillips. The wicket was good and played well right through the match. Guys have applied themselves and just things worked our way in this match. Nyeem Young, Azam Khan, Samit Patel, Glenn Phillips have contributed for us at various stages and the boys have shown commitment right through out the tournament but we just couldn't come collectively as a unit in this season.
Kyle Mayers (Man of the Match) (BR): I got the opportunity and glad I took it with both the hands. We (along with Glenn Phillips) planned it well and got the momentum our way with boundaries coming consistently. Reverse sweep was the best shot for me in this match. It is important for us to finish well and we did it from personal and team's point of view as well. We don't know who's watching & it is always important to play a key role to contribute to the win in this final match of CPL 2021 for Barbados Royals.
Absolute domination here from the Royals' batters, Kyle Mayers and Glenn Phillips, to chase down the total of 191 with more than one over to spare. Both the batters have scored more than 80 and an unbeaten partnership of over 150 helped them seal the victory against St Lucia Kings.
19.0
18.5 Alzarri Joseph to Glenn Phillips, full toss outside the off-stump. Punches it through cover point to the fielder at the fence
18.4 Alzarri Joseph to Glenn Phillips, SIX! Third one of the over. And that makes the scores level. Full toss on the stumps. Phillips takes the front leg away and launches it over the fielder at long-on
18.3 Alzarri Joseph to Glenn Phillips, SIX! Just 7 runs required now. Poor ball from Joseph. Short ball well wide of the off-stump. Phillips throws everything at it and gets enough connection to clear the point boundary
18.2 Alzarri Joseph to Glenn Phillips, fuller ball wide of the off-stump. Phillips fails to dig it out this time
18.1 Alzarri Joseph to Glenn Phillips, SIX! Inches over the fielder at long-off. Joseph gets the length wrong just by a whisker. Phillips launches it over long-off. The fielder looks interested but just fails to get a hand on it
Alzarri Joseph comes back to bowl the penultimate over.
Just 7 runs off the over for Kings and will this allow them to come back and make it tough for the Royals? 19 runs required from 12 balls and this can go either way from here.
