After a slight detour to Post of Spain, the Caribbean cricketing action is back to the Brian Lara Stadium. The pitch here has enough for the bowlers and batsmen both. After some initial seam movement, the ball comes onto the bat easily as we saw yesterday in the Tallwahas vs Zouks match. The bounce at times is spongy but otherwise trustworthy and the outfield is racing quick. The spin bowlers will get into the contest as the pitch starts to deterirate later in the tournament.
There is 57 percent chance of precipitation and therefore we are keeping our fingers crossed that the rain-gods stay away and we get to see some play. The maximum temperature will be 32 degree celsius.
The Zouks have assured themselves a spot in the knockouts and its all about the position they will end up in. If Zouks manage to eek out the Tallawahs then they could potentially finish on the second spot on the table which wil not be shabby at all, given the way they had begun the campaign.

Jamaica Tallawahs are currently at the fourth spot and precariously holding on to that spot. A loss or two here and some favourable results for Barbados Tridents will mean that they can risk losing the playoff place and therefore the team needs to win this contest at all costs.
So that's it from Match 28 of CPL 2020 which proved to be an exciting encounter. Do join us at 7:00 PM tomorrow for the live coverage of the final league games of this edition before the knockout stages begin. Adios from myself, Sarthak Karkhanis and on behalf of my colleague Prasanth Sathish. Do join us tomorrow!
As for the Tallawahs, other than Lamichhane every other bowler conceded at over 8.5 RPO and that didn't work in their favour. Mujeeb has just picked a solitary wicket in his last 4 games and JT will hope that he strikes form in the semi-final as he will be crucial to their fortunes. With this defeat, the semi-final line-up is ready as the Trinbago Knight Riders will face Jamaica Tallawahs
So, in the end, it's a comfortable win for the Tridents as they chase down the target with balls to spare. Earlier in the innings, Holder did well with 42-ball 69 and that laid the foundation for the third win of the defending champions in their final game of the season. The skipper stabilized the innings after two quick wickets and it seemed like BT are on the verge of yet another low total. Post the 24 run over against McSween, the Tridents were always ahead in the chase in spite of the few aberrations as that resulted in only a few economical overs. Once Holder departed in the 13th over, opener Carter anchored the innings and didn't let the momentum slip away from the Tridents. Santner was sent in at 5 and he scored an unbeaten 35 which sealed the deal
18.2 Carlos Brathwaite to Mitchell Santner, SIX! Length ball outside off-stump and Santner walks across and slaps this over mid-wicket for a maximum. Tridents win by 7 wickets!
18.1 Carlos Brathwaite to Mitchell Santner, FOUR! Full-length delivery outside off-stump and Santner walks across and drills this one down the ground through the line of the ball for a boundary.
18.1 Carlos Brathwaite to Mitchell Santner, WIDE! Well outside off-stump from Brathwaite, 14th extra of the innings.
BT are 154/3 after 18 overs and just a formality remains as 8 runs in the last 2 overs.
17.6 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Jonathan Carter, fired in on a length, too close to cut and beats his outside edge this time.
17.5 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Mitchell Santner, short delivery outside off-stump and Santner slaps it down the ground for a single.
17.4 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Mitchell Santner, short delivery outside off-stump and Santner makes room and has to reach out for it as he cuts it to the deep for a couple
17.3 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Jonathan Carter, full delivery outside leg-stump and Carter gets a top edge on the sweep that runs past short fine leg and they come back for three.
17.2 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Mitchell Santner, length delivery on the pads tucked away for a quick single.
17.1 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Jonathan Carter, tossed up delivery on middle and leg and Carter paddles it to fine-leg for a single.
17.1 Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Jonathan Carter, WIDE! Angling down the leg side this time.
With 3 overs to spare. BT are 145-3 and they require under a run a ball. 2 boundaries from that Thomas over means the Tridents have this game in the bag
16.6 Oshane Thomas to Mitchell Santner, FOUR! CRUEL! Full-length ball outside off-stump and Santner looking to drive gets a thick inside edge that runs past the keeper to the fine-leg boundary.
16.5 Oshane Thomas to Mitchell Santner, fuller and wider outside off-stump and Santner is beaten this time.
16.4 Oshane Thomas to Jonathan Carter, full delivery on off-stump once again and Carter digs that one out for a single
16.3 Oshane Thomas to Mitchell Santner, full delivery on off-stump takes the inside edge of Santner onto his pads as they scamper through for a single.
16.2 Oshane Thomas to Mitchell Santner, FOUR! Full and wide outside off-stump and Santner carves this over the fielder at point with one hand coming off the blade as he picks up another boundary.
