Hobart Hurricanes 148/7 (20 ov)
Brisbane Heat 152/6 (17.2 ov)
Heat won by 4 wickets
Player of the match: Lewis Gregory
The Brisbane Heat were the underdog team coming into this contest but they've come up with a spectacular performance to beat the Hobart Hurricanes. Hobart Hurricanes were put into bat by the Heat and they never really got going in the batting department. D'Arcy Short and Ben McDermott got off to decent starts but neither of them capitalized on it. It was an innings interrupted with regular wickets as Lewis Gregory got a three-fer. He was supported nicely by Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Jack Wildermuth, who also got a wicket each. The Hurricanes were looking to finish with a flourish but Mark Steketee did well to get a brace but was slightly expensive in the end as Hobart reached a respectable total of 148.

The Brisbane Heat got off to a flier, courtesy their opening batsmen, Max Bryant and Sam Heazlett, who forged a partnership of 73 before the former departed. Sam Heazlett soon followed as it was D'Arcy Short who was turning the game back in Hobart's favour with figures of 18/3 from his 4 overs. Riley Meredith bowled well in tandem with Short as he got two quick wickets as well and it seemed like Hobart Hurricanes could pull a rabbit out of the hat but it was James Bazley's gutsy 31, alongside his skipper, Jimmy Pierson that took the Brisbane Heat home.

Hobart Hurricanes did well to make a game out of this match, despite being 15-20 runs short of the par score but the Brisbane Heat came through in the end. Brisbane Heat get their first victory and have finally announced themselves in the tournament while Hobart Hurricanes miss the chance to take top spot! Another cracker of a game in the Big Bash as the favourites were humbled by inexperienced side.

Brisbane Heat win by 4 wickets.

Lewis Gregory is awarded the Man of the Match.

That's it from us here as I, Pratyush Rohra and my colleague, Karthik Raj sign off. Thank you for joining us. See you next time!
17.2 Scott Boland to Jimmy Peirson, full delivery, Peirson hammers the straight drive down the ground for a boundary. That is it. Brisbane Heat wrap up a four-wicket victory with 16 balls to spare.
17.1 Scott Boland to Jimmy Peirson, full toss, Peirson drives it to mid-off. No run.
Jimmy Pierson realizing what his team needs him to do and is doing exactly that! Putting a prize on his wicket and just giving the strike to James Bazley, who was swinging his bat at everything and eventually started finding the middle of the bat. It's been a gutsy batting performance by the debutant, getting his team over the line.

Just 1 run needed for Brisbane now!
Over: 17 | Summary: 1 1 1 1w 6 0 0 Bowler: Nathan Ellis Score: 148/6
16.6 Nathan Ellis to James Bazley, really quick short ball and Bazley misses it.
16.5 Nathan Ellis to James Bazley, full on the pads, Bazley misses it. Just one run to get.
16.4 Nathan Ellis to James Bazley, slow and short, Bazley picks the bones out of it by smashing the ball over the deep mid-wicket region. Huge six.
16.4 Nathan Ellis to James Bazley, slower delivery down the leg-side but it is too wide.
16.3 Nathan Ellis to Jimmy Peirson, slower ball, Peirson waits and pushes it to the leg-side for a single.
16.2 Nathan Ellis to James Bazley, length ball on the leg-stump, Bazley gets a slight edge to backward point for a single.
16.1 Nathan Ellis to Jimmy Peirson, length ball on the stumps, Peirson pushes it to mid-wicket and takes a quick single.
That looked like another tight over from Riley Meredith as he finishes his quota of four overs. The Brisbane Heat won't mind this at all, they just need to keep their head down and get to the finishing line but James Bazley seems to be in a hurry. Hobart Hurricanes not only want another wicket but also have decisions to make about who will bowl the next few overs because James Faulkner pulled out due to a hamstring issue.

Nathan Ellis is back into the attack.

11 runs required off 24 balls.
