Well then, that will be that for this contest. The Dambulla Giants have started off their campaign with a win and will be hoping to gather some early momentum in this tournament. Meanwhile, the Kandy Warriors will have their work cut out and will need to do extremely well to avoid missing out on a playoff spot, for the second year running.

Dasun Shanaka: Absolutely pleased with the win. The way the boys have started today, I hope they continue to do the same throughout. We should have capitalized a bit more in the middle overs but their bowlers bowled well. We might have been 20 runs short on another day. Spin will definitely play a major role in the tournament. We might play another spinner in the upcoming games.

Angelo Perera: The first five overs while bowling cost us the game. Some good balls also found the boundary but we've got to make up. We pulled back the run rate really well in the end, that was well done. We have to deal with what we've got and find ways to win.

Philip Salt (Player of the match): A few people have told me that(Still in T10 mode). I'm just trying to go out and play some positive cricket, as always. I know from my experience of playing here that you have to cash in early on as the ball doesn't stay new for too long and that's what I did.

That's a wrap for this contest then. The scoreboard might not tell the entire story but this one went one way and then another. It was Phil Salt and Dickwella's partnership at the top of the order which set the tone for the Giants, with the latter scoring a ballistic half-century. What followed was a gung-ho approach from the Giants that didn't quite pay off but still got them to 190, courtesy of that flying start at the top. As it turned out, Ramesh Mendis' 22-run cameo proved to be the difference.

The Giants were ahead of the eight-ball for the most part of that contest, but the Warriors refused to throw in the towel. Losing wickets in a cluster proved to be their undoing, as they lost their top three in the powerplay. Not much to cheer about in that batting unit, except Rovman Powell's performance as he threatened to single-handedly take this game away from the Giants. Tahir, Pradeep and Mendis proved to be too much for the Warriors eventually, with the spin twins in Tahir and Mendis doing a fantastic job throughout.
