England vs Bangladesh live commentary

And that is it from us as it was a pleasure for me to commentate on the inaugural game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Do stay tuned for our extensive and in-depth coverage of the mini World Cup and also don't forget to tune in for the live commentary for tomorrow's all important Australia vs New Zealand encounter. A repeat of the 2015 World Cup final!! I, Sumedh Pande, take your leave for the time being as I'll see you tomorrow for the second game of the tournament. Adios Amigos!!
That's it from the press conference as England chased down 306 with rather ease as the hosts started a major tournament on the front foot and avoided yet another loss against Bangladesh in an ICC event. The batting looks dangerous as ever but the bowling department needs a few changes whereas Bangladesh need to take a look at their combination as this team has the potential to be dangerous if they play according to the situation and the conditions.
Eoin Morgan: "Root continues his good form as when he is in good touch, the match becomes a lot easy for us. The boys are eager to do well. We failed to take many wickets as it is going to be important in the latter stages. We weren't perfect and we will definitely reassess the performance in the morning."
Mashrafe Mortaza: "305 was a bit less. We failed to take wickets in the middle as Root batted well and changed the complexion of the match. With 7 wickets in hand, we should have attacked more and scored a few more. We will think about the team combination. Playing an extra bowler will be on our minds."
Joe Root: "The performances of the boys will get better as we have a lot of confidence in ourselves. We back each other and I have a calming feeling that I have Stokes and Buttle coming after me. The top order must make a 70 or a 100 in each game if we are to win this tournament. The ankle is okay but I think it's a calf issue. A brilliant way to start a major tournament."
JOE ROOT IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH FOR HIS UNBEATEN KNOCK OF 133!!
England played just like the favourites of the tournament as they chased down a 300+ score without any nerves getting the better of them. Two 100+ partnerships got them over the line as the trio of Alex Hales, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan as dazzled for England.
Joe Root finishes it in style as two boundaries take his individual score to 133 not out which ultimately is his highest odi score. This is the first 300+ run chase in the Champions Trophy history as the hosts effectively chase down a huge score with a sense of calm and flair about them.
47.2 FOUR! Mosaddek Hossain to Joe Root. Off break half volley, off stump on the front foot slog sweeping, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs.
47.1 FOUR! Mosaddek Hossain to Joe Root. Off break length ball, off stump down the track Slog, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs.
The highlight from the over was Joe Root mistiming a pull shot but getting away with it. England need just six to win as it is a matter of just a few balls as Morgan helps his side to reach 300 on the last delivery.
