That wraps up our coverage tonight. We have the first double-header of the tournament tomorrow. So do join us for that. Until then, goodbye for us at Sportskeeda. Good night.
In the end, it was comprehensive from KKR. They made an absolute mockery out of that total posted by Gujarat. 183 was a pretty good total, mind you.
But Gujarat were blown out of the park by Lynn and Gambhir. They didn't help themselves either as they sprayed the ball all over the place. In the end, their decision to play four foreign batsmen backfired big time.
Gujarat have a lot of thinking to do. KKR will be delighted with that start, especially after they had conceded 180+. Magnificent from Lynn.
Chris Lynn: "I was hitting it well. So it was my day and a good start for me. Practice game is just a build up for the first game. The ball was coming on and this was similar to conditions back home. So I was comfortable. When the spinners were on, I could give it Gauti, and do my thing when the quicks were on."
Chris Lynn is the Man of the Match; This is a massive surprise!!!!
Gautam Gambhir: "We can't ask for more. The way Lynn started off took a lot of pressure off me. We thought this was a 200 wicket and the bowlers did a great job in reducing them to 180. We all know what Lynn can do. If he can continue like this and keep smacking them, that takes a lot of pressure off the batsmen. We need to pick up the fielding. The first two games, the dropped catches cost the losing teams. So we need to improve that. Lynn can smack any fast bowler. So we'll all play around him with him in this form. Big game in Mumbai on Sunday. So it's a good way for us to start"
Suresh Raina: 180 was a good total. But we didn't bowl well in the powerplay. The inexperience in our bowling lineup showed. We still have to improve a lot. Dinesh Karthik batted brilliantly. Roy and McCullum got us off to a good start too. But we need to be a lot better than this. Have to bounce back.
Brilliant from KKR, they were just too good. Chris Lynn has landed!
14.5 Dhawal to Lynn, 2 runs, low full toss, Lynn creams it to sweeper cover and they scamper across and win this in a canter! A real stroll in the park, proper smashing of Gujarat
KKR win by 10 wickets. WHAT A WIN!
14.4 Dhawal to Lynn, 2 runs, slower ball on off, Lynn swings, mistimes and yet gets a brace
14.3 Dhawal to Lynn, SIX, length ball on off, Lynn stands tall and muscles it over long on. This is awesome from Lynn. Moves on to 88.
14.2 Dhawal to Lynn, FOUR, slower length ball, Lynn pulls it away and Smith runs forward and makes a meal of it at deep mid-wicket. More sloppy stuff in the field from Gujarat. They have been humbled.
14.1 Dhawal to Lynn,
low full toss, Lynn goes for it, gets the bottom of the bat, Baz drops it and parries it over long off. The IPL of dropped catches just keeps on giving.
14.1 Dhawal to Lynn, WIDE, way outside off stump
162/0 after 14 overs. And it is time for the strategic timeout. It is a stroll to the finish for KKR and Gujarat are just running through the motions here. Kulkarni has the ball in his hands.
13.6 Kaushik to Gambhir, no run, good ball to finish off the spell, spins across the bat and Gambhir is beaten
13.5 Kaushik to Lynn, 1 run, full ball, swung across to deep square leg
13.4 Kaushik to Lynn, no run, moves across to the off side, defends it back down the pitch. Forward defense from Lynn. Forward defense. WHAT?
13.3 Kaushik to Gambhir, 1 run, fastish ball, Gambhir guides it to short third man
13.2 Kaushik to Lynn, 1 run, moves to the off side crunches it to sweeper cover
13.1 Kaushik to Lynn,
SIX, short ball, Lynn sits back and crunches it over long on. Just too much power.
More punishment for Kaushik, who has had a nightmarish start to this IPL season.
153/0 after 13 overs. It is curious that Praveen had bowled only one over before this. He is the most experienced of the Gujarat bowlers and he should definitely have done more when the pressure was on.
12.6 Praveen to Lynn, 1 run, full ball on the stumps, dug out and they take a single
12.5 Praveen to Gambhir, 1 run, slower bumper, Gambhir waits and pulls it around
12.4 Praveen to Lynn, 1 run, yorker on off stump, Lynn digs it out to long on
12.3 Praveen to Gambhir, 1 run, short ball, Gambhir goes back and pulled it to deep mid-wicket
12.2 Praveen to Lynn, 1 run, full ball, driven back to long off
12.1 Praveen to Gambhir, 1 run, length ball, Gambhir clips it away to short fine leg
