Gujarat Lions vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Live Score and Commentary

With that, we end our live coverage of the Match No.20 between RCB and GL. Do join us for the live coverage of tomorrow's high-voltage clash between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils at Hyderabad.

Until then, goodbye and goodnight from all of us at Sportskeeda!
In the end, RCB has finally managed to conjure up an important win after four back-to-back losses. Gujarat Lions, on the other hand, continue to search for the winning formula and languish at the bottom of the table with just one win from five games.
Chris Gayle is adjudged as the man of the match for his blazing 38-ball 77 run knock laced with 5 fours and seven mighty sixes.

He says "I like that name ("Universe Boss"). He's back. It's good to be among the runs. It's even better to be back on the field. Fans want entertainment, and I am glad I am able to do that. It all depends on how you feel. The determination is very important. To achieve 10000 runs is a special achievement and to pull it off in a win even better.

"A lot of guys have pointed a few things about my batting stance when I scored that 175. Even Shaun Pollock from South Africa sent me a few pictures of my stance. Guys back home also mentioned it. You are never too old to learn. Eventually, it paid off in the form of runs. People are still looking out for Chris Gayle; it feels fantastic and the Universe Boss is still alive. Looking forward to beating KKR."
Virat Kohli says " There's a lot of strapping on the shoulder. I have to stop thinking about it. It holds me back. Stopping runs at the end is important. Two important points won".

"I have played all my life like that, I thought I wouldn't change my attitude (on his fielding). Gayle took his opportunity beautifully. If he bats like that, it allows me to play through the innings and then accelerate late. We were about 30 runs above par and that exactly was the case.

"Chahal is the wrist spinner, he's always in the game, but Negi was outstanding. Beautiful bowling by him. Not many people were believing in his abilities but he's come back well. The plus point with Chahal is that he's not scared. He's never shy to get hit for runs. He sometimes will get hit, but will get you wickets too. On good wickets, you need bowlers who can step up".
Suresh Raina says " 213 was a pretty good score, but we still batted well. But despite it being par, I felt it was difficult to chase on this wicket. We need to improve our bowling a lot. We gave them 185 in 15 overs in an earlier game and need to learn a lot. We are lagging quite a bit in the tournament. The spinners need to read the wicket, they need to change the pace and bowl slow
"The bowlers are practising hard but they are not able to execute their plans in the game. From here on if we can win a couple of games we can come back. Jadeja needs someone to support him from the other end. He needs to vary his pace and he is a mature bowler, he has done very well for us, for CSK and in Test cricket as well. Shivil did well for us in the last season but is pretty inexperienced".
"Ishan Kishan is a great prospect for the Indian team. He's worked very hard on his batting, led India in the under-19s and has done well in the First Class games as well. He's talking to the coaches and I want him to enjoy his cricket and go out there to express himself. Though we lost a couple of wickets in between, had someone been out there, in the end, we could have done it".
RCB have finally managed to arrest their slide in the tournament, with an important 21-run victory over GL on a day when both the teams were desperately looking for a win to move up the ladder.

If Gayle and Kohli led with the bat, Chahal and Negi combined well to restrict the GL batsmen from freeing their arms and running away with the game on a day when AB De Villiers and Samuel Badree missed out due to injury.

After setting GL with a tough target of 214 at the back of half-centuries from Gayle and Kohli and match-winning cameos from Head and Jadhav, Negi got RCB off to a dream start with the wicket of DR Smith. Suresh Raina walked in and seemed to be aggressive from ball one but his cameo was brought to a tame end by Chahal, who emerged as the top bowler for RCB on the day with figures of 4-0-31-3 and was well complemented by Pawan Negi.

Brendon McCullum looked ominous during his 72-run knock but once he was sent back by Chahal, even an impressive little cameo from young Ishan Kishan (39 off 16 balls) did not suffice to get GL over the line and RCB went on to clinch their second win of the tournament.

19.6 Milne to Tye, no run, A little bit of drama to finish the game! That was a full toss which hit Thampi on the grill, the ball trickles away to the leg side and the Royal Challengers Bangalore have won by 21 runs.
19.5 Milne to Tye, 1 run, slower ball outside off stump, Tye drags it to deep mid-wicket
Basil Thampi, right hand batsman is in
19.4 Milne to Kishan, OUT! Kishan has succumbed to the short ball! Short ball from Milne, Kishan looks for the pull shot again. But this time, he only top edges it and it goes straight to Chahal at extra cover. Ends a sprightly little knock from Kishan.
19.3 Milne to Tye, 1 run, fast and on a length on middle stump, Tye inside edges it towards square leg, Kishan refuses the double and rightly so.
19.2 Milne to Tye, 2 runs, Tye has bottom edged a fullish delivery to long on, they have scampered across for two runs. Quite baffling that Tye has chosen to take strike with Kishan in great striking form.
19.1 Milne to Tye, no run, slow, full and wide outside off, Tye swings but he misses.
188/6 after 19 overs. Fabulous little cameo from Ishan Kishan here, he's moved onto 39 off just 15 balls. GL need 26 runs off the last over which will be bowled by Adam Milne.
18.6 Aravind to Kishan, SIX! He has picked that up over the square leg boundary. 21 runs off that over, to end an expensive spell from Aravind.
18.5 Aravind to Kishan, no run, slower bouncer and Kishan ducks under it. Inexplicable. He is absolutely disgusted with himself and lets out a cry of anguish.
18.4 Aravind to Kishan, SIX! Kishan has absolutely smoked that full toss over the mid-wicket fence! Around the wicket and darting into his pads, Kishan swings his bat at it and sends it soaring over the mid-wicket fence! What a sound it made off the bat!
18.3 Aravind to Kishan, no run, outside off from around the wicket, Kishan looks for a similar shot but misses it.
18.3 Aravind to Kishan, FOUR! Good shot from the youngster! Slightly full and towards the tramline, Kishan picks the length perfectly and carves it over the point fielder for his second boundary.
18.2 Aravind to Kishan, WIDE, yorker outside off, Kishan is beaten as he tries to dig it away.
18.1 Aravind to Kishan, FOUR! this time it is definitely dropped by Kohli! Kishan skewed an attempted heave as he plays this one down the leg side. That was easy for Kohli, and his will be disgusted with himself. What's worse, he pushes it on to the boundary rope.
Aravind to bowl his last over.
167/6 after 18 overs. Quick 11 run-over from Head and now GL require 47 off 18 balls.
17.6 Head to Tye, 2 runs, was that a chance for Kohli? Terrific effort by the skipper on the long on boundary to pull it back to prevent it from going for a boundary, but he drops a toughie going to his right.
17.5 Head to Tye, no run, fired in from around the wicket, Tye shapes up for the big pull shot, but makes no contact at all.
Andrew Tye, right-hand batsman is in.
17.4 Head to Jadeja, 1 run, OUT! Jadeja smacked the ball straight to long-on and set off for a single. Kishan scampered back for the second after Jadeja worked it to long on, Jadeja wasn't interested. But Kishan had crossed Jadeja at the non-striker's end when the bails were removed which means that the Rockstar has to depart.
17.3 Head to Kishan, 1 run, fired in on middle stump, Kishan works it to long on for one.
17.2 Head to Kishan, SIX! He's middled that to perfection! In the slot, Ishant sits on one knee and slog sweeps that one long into the mid-wicket stands.
17.1 Head to Jadeja, 1 run, fired in short again, that is smacked towards cover.
