David Miller. He's still got it - of course, he's not reaching the fag end of his career by any means but in recent years, the efficiency he's shown over the years had started to wane. Not today though - he's still there. He stepped up when his side needed it desperately in the absence of skipper Hardik Pandya and that was a blitz of some kind. Not only is it a knock that will uplift the spirits in their camp but it's bound to take the wind of the CSK sails as well. They had no business losing this after the start they had with the ball. Yes, they were short of a par score but with a wafer-thin batting lineup, they should have had this in the bag. The Super Kings' title defense is on the line and next up are fellow strugglers Mumbai Indians on Thursday (April 21). An El Clasico between the cellar-dwellers - who'd have thought!

As for the Titans, they have the week off until Saturday (April 23) when they face Kolkata Knight Riders in Navi Mumbai. A much-needed break, simply because it gives skipper Hardik Pandya enough time to recuperate and return to the setup.

Surprise Surprise! David Miller's the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 51-ball 94. Anybody saw that coming?

Hear from the man of the moment: I've been working really hard. You mentioned Faf (du Plessis) - he's always number 1 in the gym so trying to better him. It does take me back memory lane but I was just trying to play my game and 'see ball, hit ball' in that sense. I was just looking to play my game and it's nice that it came off. (On batting at 4) It's just the position I happen to have played throughout my career but 16/3 in the Powerplay sort of gives me the opportunity to shine. I obviously got more time so it was pretty cool. (On Rashid Khan's onslaught) It releases a lot of pressure - with a chase like that you needed someone to help out and that was an exceptional over from him. In my opinion it was the game changer. He struck it beautifully. The first couple of games we played we got over the line in a close win. The dice has definitely rolled over to our side - hopefully we can keep the momentum going.

Rashid Khan (Gujarat Titans Captain): Thanks to the Almighty for the performance and especially the win. It's an amazing feeling - debut game as captain and it's a dream feeling. It's wonderful to have won. We wanted to take it deep and we knew that even if we needed 90 off the last 7 overs also it was possible. That was the sort of thinking and I told David to go for it. That was the plan and we did that - just tried to take it as deep as possible. (On playing a batter short) The discussion was also that I haven't batted so far. I wanted to bat up and fulfill that responsibility. Yes we were a batter short but in T20s, we just need two batters to do the job. That was the discussion with David Miller and he was outstanding. (On that over against Jordan) That was the time I had to step up and take responsibility with the short boundary on the leg-side as well. I felt that if we get 20 off that over we could chase the rest down.

Ravindra Jadeja (losing skipper): We started brilliantly, first six overs were good but credit to Miller, he plays a good innings. When we batted, the ball was gripping and the ball was holding a little but so thought that 169 was par but we did not execute our plans in the last five overs. I think CJ is an experienced guy so I thought let me go with him because he can bowl yorkers but unfortunately it did not happen today. That is the beauty of T20 cricket.

Abhinav Manohar: (How it felt watching from the sidelines) It felt great, Miller played a blinder so did Rashid, we were just biting our nails. (Superstitions) I don't know about the others but I was sitting in the same seat at the same position, not moving an inch. Yeah it's tough for Rashid, first game he's captaining lots of pressure on him but he handled it great. Bowled the 19th over also so he did great both with the bat and the ball. (On how much he's enjoying with GT) I am enjoying a lot, I have been given a lot of freedom. There is no pressure from the management to play a certain way, I can go out there and express myself so want to make the most of it.

"If it's in the V, it's in the tree; if it's in the arc, it's out of the park." - wise words from David Miller's father and well, we've seen the Protea give a good account of the same in the years of yore. He's done it again tonight - tonight was the night for Killer Miller to unleash something outrageously brilliant and boy, hasn't he played a knock for the ages!

This, mind you, after the Titans were in doldrums! Shubman Gill chased a wide one first ball and perished, Vijay Shankar nicked behind off his second delivery and once Abhinav Manohar chipped one to cover, CSK were all over the table-toppers.

Killer Miller took centerstage though and he meant business. He kept the Titans on par with the eight-ball with the odd boundary now and then, even as he saw Wriddhiman Saha and Rahul Tewatia depart and the asking rate climb thereafter. He needed an ally though and in stand-in skipper Rashid Khan, he had one.

Rashid was looking to unleash those helicopters early on and while it didn't work, the fact that he was still out there to give Miller company kept the Titans afloat. Once Maheesh Theekshana was played out - he did send down a long hop himself that was dispatched - the signs were ominous.

There was the calm and then came the storm. Miller was at it right through of course, but this storm was named Rashid Khan! A wizard with the ball in hand, he conjured some outrageous magic with the bat for a change, belting the white cherry all around the park. Chris Jordan was left gobsmacked and he didn't do himself any good with all those pies dished out in the slot.

Eventually, despite Dwayne Bravo sending down an outstanding spell, an under-fire Jordan always had too much on his plate defending 13 in the last over. So much so, that he managed to prize out Miller's wicket off a beamer and that summed it up really before a dive from Lockie Ferguson ensured that the Titans pulled off a prison break of some kind! Oh and let's not forget one turning point in the 17th over where Shivam Dube could have gone for that catch from deep mid-wicket - it was CSK or Miller really and the end results vindicates the same!

Lockie Ferguson - the big fast-bowler puts in a dive and sees the team home! Gujarat Titans have pulled off a Houdini - they beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets with a delivery to spare!

19.5 Chris Jordan to David Miller, MILLER HAS DONE IT FOR GT! Full toss on the middle stump line, Miller slaps that down the ground and takes off for the single. The batters take off for the risky second run and the throw goes to the bowler's end from long off. Jordan collects it and whips off the bails but Ferguson has made his mark with a brilliant dive! Referred upstairs and replays show that Ferguson's bat is well inside the crease by the time Jordan has broken the stumps!

Smiles all around the GT camp - Hardik Pandya wears a big grin alright! Just 2 to win now!

19.4 Chris Jordan to David Miller, FOUR! SHOT! Down to just 2 runs now! Full ball and pitched on the leg stump line, into Miller's arc and he swings hard! Hoicks that through the square leg region and there is no protection there!

That looked pretty high! They're checking upstairs and it has to be called a no ball. IT IS! FREE HIT LOADING!

19.4 Chris Jordan to David Miller, CAUGHT BUT IT MIGHT BE A NO BALL! A full toss over the waist and outside off, Miller swings hard and gets the outside edge that goes straight down the throat of the fielder at short third man! Adjudged as a no ball by the third umpire! Free hit coming up!

Full delivery going down the leg side, Miller swings and flicks that off his pads! Sends that packing over the backward square leg region for a huge maximum! That's the short side of the ground too!
