Goteborg Royals 83/7 in 10 overs (Ananthu Saseendran 28 off 16, Madhan Prabu 4/5 off 2 overs) beat Helsingborg Stars 63/5 in 10 overs (Suhas Shetty 31 off 25, Siva Vennapusa 2/11 off 2 overs) by 20 runs.

Two in two for the Goteborg Royals as they kickstart their ECS Sweden 2022 campaign on a high. On both occasions, they've managed to defend totals, casting a question mark over the Helsingborg Stars' ability to chase down totals now.

The Stars were sedate to begin with but the issue was that they were too circumspect for long periods of time. And in a format such as T10, even a single over is a pretty considerable period of time, meaning that at 23/0 in 4 overs, the Stars were playing catch up.

Suhas Shetty switched gears and pocketed a couple of boundaries but Abinash Panda just couldn't get going. The asking rate continued to mount and by the time Panda departed, skipper Madhan Prabu had too much on hand. He had to take a chance with a risky second run off the very first delivery he faced and ran himself out in the process.

It then came down to Shetty to pull off a heist but alas, his departure signaled the end for the Stars who never got any kind of impetus during their chase. Take nothing away from how the Royals bowled though - while Chandraprabha Jha and Ananthu Saseendran kept it tight, Siva Vennapusa did the star turn in terms of picking up wickets.

In hindsight, that 24-run eighth over of the Royals innings proved to be a significant difference between the two sides. One such big over is what the Stars needed during their chase but even otherwise, a case of better calculation from the very beginning would have seen them stay on par with the asking rate. They have some thinking to do now with consecutive losses to start the tournament.

And that'll be all! It turns out to be a convincing victory in the end for the Royals and it must be said that it was a grossly miscalculated chase on the part of the Stars. Goteborg Royals beat Helsingborg Stars by 20 runs!
