That was a massive win for Bangladesh to take home after a below par outing in the Asia Cup. India tried to test their bench strength and they managed to serve the purpose given the World Cup is just a few days away. Lot of positives for both teams to take for this game. India will now prepare for the final slated to be played on Sunday. Like always it was a pleasure bringing the live coverage from this encounter. Till the next time, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) and my fellow commentator and close mate Pradeep. Goodnight! Cheers!
Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh captain and Player of the Match): Yes I mean. We have given the guys that haven't played much. We felt spinners would come in handy and it did work for us today. I wasn't batting well in the Asia Cup but after hitting the first boundary, I found it easier. Spin was difficult to play. I mean when Mahedi bowled it wasn't the easy time to bowl. Getting the wicket of a right hander was a big break. Credt to Sakib as well. We fielded well so lot of positives to take. I think we have got a very good team. Lot of injuries but hopefully we will have a fit team in the World Cup.
Rohit Sharma [India captain]: We had to give chance to the rest of the players, some of the players are likely to play the World Cup, and the change was inevitable today. Axar batted brilliantly, couldn't finish, showed a lot of heart, kept getting hit on the hand, but he was out there in the middle to fight it out, credit to Bangladeshi bowlers to keep the pressure on us. Not to forget Gill's innings, on a challenging pitch, he showed a lot of character and batted really well. Gill, look, he backs himself and he backs himself, his form has been brilliant in the last two years and he knows what he wants to do, paces his innings nicely. Gill works really hard, he's always there hitting the ball hard and you can see the reward in the middle.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib [Bangladesh]: First wicket is always special, Rohit bhai is a dream wicket and my debut wicket. I just concentrate the lines and lengths, try to maintain it and that's how I get early success. Always prepared mentally, whenever the team needs it, I'm ready for it and that's how I prepare in the training as well. I thought about for slower one, but was tight, 2 ball 8 runs and went for the yorker, I backed myself to bowl the yorker, it worked out. We're going home, it's a massive win and very good feeling.
Bangladesh won by 6 runs

Bangladesh have defeated India after 11 years in the Asia Cup. What a way to finish. They have beaten a strong Indian team who has already qualified for the final. It was a brilliant all round performance which saw them defending a competitive score of 265. Shubman Gill scored a sensational century but it wasn't enough to take India over the finish line. Tanzim Hasan on debut was superb and saw the innings out. Disappointment for India but they will play in the final against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
It was a tricky run chase for India and a good opening stand was the need of the hour for the Men in Blue. Shubman Gill began with a couple of exquisite shots but it was Tanzim Hasan Sakib who made all the difference with his fiery opening spell. He bagged the wicket of Rohit Sharma in his first over before removing Tilak Verma with a booming inswinger. The pressure was well and truly on India and the Bangladesh bowlers, especially Tanzim had his tails up.
The sinking ship was resurrected by Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. The duo batted sensibly and found the boundaries. It was Mahedi Hasan who broke the partnership when Rahul charged the ground and swiped one straight to the midwicket fielder. Ishan Kishan looked nervy during his dodgy knock and was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz as he went for a reverse sweep. The pressure was back on India and they needed a partnership to steady the ship.
Shubman Gill continued his good work and while slowing down a bit after getting to his fifty, he managed to hit the occasional sixes which kept India on par with the required rate. Suryakumar Yadav looked in good touch before getting castled at the hands of Shakib Al Hasan after scoring 26. Ravindra Jadeja played an uncharacteristic shot and was castled by Mustafizur Rahman. Gill reached a well-deserved century and then smashed a few more to almost dash the Bangladeshi hopes.
It was Mahedi Hasan who got the prized wicket which put Bangladesh back on top. It was the partnership between Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur which reignited the hopes of India. Axar played a superb knock and struck some lusty blows in the 18th over to turn the equation in India's favor. Mustafizur then bowled a fantastic penultimate over as he dismissed both set batters which was the final nail in the coffin for India. This victory will certainly give Bangladesh a lot of confidence going into the World Cup.
49.5 Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammed Shami, RUN-OUT! Bangladesh win, what a thriller this turned out to be in the end. Yorker length on the stumps, right up in the blockhole. Shami squeezes it through square-leg and they decide to come back for a brace, throw comes to the keeper and Shami is well short and it's all over for India. Consolation win for Bangladesh, but India meet Sri Lanka on Sunday in the big Finals!
Finally Shami connects one and that has raced away to the fence. Still Bangladesh's game to lose from here.
49.4 Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammed Shami, FOUR! SHOT! Unless the next ball becomes a wide or a no-ball, this is it for Bangladesh. Length delivery on the stumps, Shami clears his front foot and smashes it cow corner, races away and finds the ropes.
49.3 Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammed Shami, OH DEAR! Dips another slower one into the batter, Shami has an almighty swing across the lne and misses, goes over the stumps. Third dot in a row!
49.2 Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammed Shami, OH! Takes all the pace out of it, kept low as well. Shami too early to heave across the line and misses.
Shami has been struck on the helmet and a mandatory concussion test will follow.
49.1 Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Mohammed Shami, OH MY! Nasty bumper into the batter, Shami swivels to pull but misses, that pings Shami on the helmet.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib to bowl the final over.
That's the penultimate over done and dusted and Bangladesh in a pole position. They are just a wicket away from winning this. Axar started the over well with a boundary but ended up miscuing one straight down the throat of the long on fielder.

48.6 Mustafizur Rahman to Prasidh Krishna, length delivery, tailed away wide of off-stump. Prasidh goes feeling for it, another dot.
48.5 Mustafizur Rahman to Prasidh Krishna, OH! Slower one, too good for Prasidh, had no clue. Length delivery, spun away just outside the off-stump, Prasidh gets squared up.
Prasidh Krishna, RHB is the new man in at No 11. Thre slips in place for Prasidh.
That could be the game for Bangladesh. That wasn't the greatest of ploy from Axar. He should have waited for a bit more. What a superb catch from the long off fielder. Bangladesh inching closer towards a famous victory.
48.4 Mustafizur Rahman to Axar Patel, OUT! HOLES OUT AT LONG-OFF! That should be the game for Bangladesh, they are ecstatic. Clever change of pace, length delivery outside off. Axar swings but slices it down to long-off, fielder charges in from deep and pouches it.
