With this win England go at top of the World Test Championship points table and India have slipped to fourth. This win will be a memorable one for Joe Root. He played his 100th Test. Then became the first batsman to get a double-hundred in his 100th Test.  A couple of fifties from Dom Sibley and Ben Stokes in England's first inning propelled them to a mammoth 578. Indian bowlers struggled on a slow deck. India were pushed to 337 in their first inning thanks to a swashbuckling 91 from Rishabh Pant and resolute fifties from Cheteshwar Pujara and Washington Sundar. Dom Bess took 4 wickets in India's first inning. Once England had a lead of 241 runs, it was all too easy for them. On a deteriorating pitch, they were bowled out for just 178 in their second inning. Local man Ravichandran Ashwin took 6-for to curtail the England inning. But by then, the hosts were already set a daunting total of 420 to be chased. On the final morning, it was a Jimmy Anderson special that ripped apart the Indian batting line-up. Anderson this time was supported by the other England spinner in Jack Leach. Virat Kohli held the fort with a fighting fifty but that only delayed the inevitable as England completed a thumping 227-run win. 
Joe Root: From the toss everything right. We put a very good score and the bowlers took early wickets. We knew this was going to be a good wicket from the outset. At different stages, the guys came in and performed. We knew everyone has to perform, this week it was me, next week it could be someone else. The idea for the delayed declaration was that to take the Indian win out of the equation. It is really important for us to focus on our skills and the guys handled the pressure very well. Jimmy loves his cricket. He is constantly challenging himself and is getting better every time. He is still improving at 38 and he is a role model for the rest of the guys. 
Joe Root is the Man of the Match for his double-hundred. 
Virat Kohli: I don't think we put enough pressure on them with the ball. It was a very slow wicket on the first two days so it made batting easy on those days. Our body language was not good. But we have to give the credits where it is due. You need the whole bowling unit to bowl together as a unit. We are also let down with the bat too. We are looking to evolve. England were ready for the grind. Toss ended up being a crucial factor. But no excuses. But one thing is for sure we will fight hard in the next three Tests. We have to start off with good body language. It is about mindset. There are going to hiccups in the journey but we are ready to fight. Rishabh Pant is a fun guy on the field and his body language helps other players in the team. 
Right then! Post-match presentation time. 
Jack Leach: This is my first visit to Australia. It is just about staying strong. It was a tough evening against Rishabh Pant. I am getting used to bowling long spells in heat. My experience with Somerset and bowling on those kinds of wickets have helped. Overall it has been a good team effort. 
James Anderson: A bit of reverse swing helped me. The pitch was deteriorating. When the ball moves in the air it makes it a bit easy for the pacers to pick wickets. I am currently enjoying my bowling. Two Tests in Sri Lanka and now a Test in India. Joe Root has always been a great player of spin. It is great to see Joe Root in good nick. 
England win by 227 runs. An emphatic win for them away from home. They have now won six away Tests on the bounce.  There is something about 2021 and teams winning away Tests. India won two Tests in Australia, England have won three away Tests this year. And only two days ago, West Indies completed a stunning run-chase against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. This is now Joe Root's 48th win as England Test captain.
