That is it from us, here from Sportskeeda. As expected, the Pakistan team faltered at an ICC event against arch-rivals India and the win means that India goes on top of the table with an extremely high net run rate. Do tune in tomorrow for the all exciting Group A clash between Bangladesh and Australia. This is Tejas Venkatesh signing off. Goodnight and see you all tomorrow.
Virat Kohli - "We are 10 in the batting but maybe 6 today with the ball. It was a clinical performance and in the field we can still improve because this is a tournament of all champion teams. Overall I would say nine out of ten. All the batsmen chipped in with runs and the way Yuvraj and Pandya were outstanding."

Sarfaraz Ahmed - "I think we are not up to the mark on the field and we lost the plot in the last 3 overs. No regrets for bowling first. We will regroup and talk about the batting as well as the bowling."
He says, "Yes definitely it is to get some runs on the board. Not easy at all to go and change the tempo of the game but you have to back yourself and tell the opposition that you're here to attack. India-Pakistan is always a big game and we will carry the confidence forward against Sri Lanka."
The player of the match is Yuvraj Singh
Mohammad Hafeez did hang around in the middle for some time but did not manage to make a considerable mark. The rest of the batsmen just did not turn up for the game. With the ball, Yadav and Kumar were more than impressive but it was they was Pandya performed today which has to be the highlight. He showcased that he is ready for bigger challenges. At the end of the day, India beat Pakistan comfortably by 124 runs on D/L margin.
The chase started off well but one was left to wonder why Azhar Ali started playing rash shots at one stage of the game and then suddenly started struggling. Maybe it was the pressure created by the Indian bowlers. Shoaib Malik was the only hope was the Pakistan contingent but have to admit, he departed in a really bizarre way.
Wahab Riaz is not coming out to bat and that is it. India has won. Big victory for the Indians here at the Edgbaston. Pakistan seemed to have lost the plot right from the moment the rains arrived when they were batting. Credit to the Indian bowlers and pacers, in particular, they squeezed the brains out of the Pakistan batsmen. Remarkable stuff from the Indian bowling unit.
33.4 OUT! Caught. Umesh Yadav to Hasan Ali. Back of a length, off stump on the back foot flick, leading edge in the air uncontrolled to mid wicket, by Dhawan. Pace and bounce force the tailender to roll out catch practice to Dhawan. An unfitting end to a contest that created such buzz.
33.3 Umesh Yadav to Hasan Ali. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot driving, to backward point for no runs, fielded by Jadeja.
33.2 OUT! Caught. Umesh Yadav to Mohammad Amir. Back of a length, to leg on the back foot driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to cover, by Jadhav. Amir is gone now as well. Another soft dismissal. Attempted to clear the in-field but bottled it to Jadhav's hands at mid-off.
All the build up, all the fascination about this game has fizzled out. It is only a matter of time India officially emerge as winners.
