Right then. India might have lost out on their record for the most consecutive T20I wins but there's still plenty to play for, if not for the namesake records. They'll have a chance to level this series in a couple of days' time as the bandwagon moves to Cuttack. We'll be here to bring you all the updates from that one, of course. Until then, this is Pratyush Rohra, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Shashwat Kumar. We hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. Bye-bye for now. Goodnight!
David Miller takes the Player of the Match award for his sensational knock. Here's what he has to say: I think it's a lot of hard work over the years. I feel I have been understanding my game a lot better in the last four-five years. While chasing, you need two players to play a part and Rassie played phenomenally well at the back end with some big overs. It was a great chase at the end of it and we're chuffed with the result. (On the chat between him and Rassie) Just trying to hang in there. I was going to start with and kept going and Rassie was looking to get going to pierce the gap or find a boundary but it was tough for him initially. It was just about limiting the dot balls as much as we can and getting to the big score. (On one thing that's transformed him) It's belief. I have been around for some time now but understanding and winning games consistently gives you a lot more confidence and belief. (On a preferred batting positon) Nah, I'm pretty okay with wherever I bat, I just want to make a difference. No. 5 happens to be the position for now. I have done well at No. 4 in my domestic career but South Africa is a different story with world-class players in the lineup. Happy to bat wherever and make a difference.
Temba Bavuma: We are happy with our performance. We expected the wicket to get better and better as the night went on and fortunately the batters came through. A bit tricky to assess the bowling and there are obviously areas where we can improve but it was fair, considering how good the wicket was. The way he batted (Kishan) he made it look very easy but I think the wicket played quite well. They put us under pressure with our spinners and they always had the left-right combination that didn't let us settle. Kudos to them. There was a proper batting display and David came in again carrying his good form, supported by Rassie. We just need to build on this performance. (On the bowling) I have to think about it a bit more. It was a good wicket. We probably just have to read the situation better and go to our death options a lot earlier, especially the spinners. Find ways to get them off strike and take away the boundary ball. I'm being overly critical with the bowling. It was a good wicket and we'll take that result. We have a lot of belief in Rassie. We've seen him do that time and time again. He takes it slowly and then finds a way to bring it back at the end. He is the guy who sees us through. With David, it makes things very explosive in terms of our batting. It wasn't as bad as we expected. It was hot but wasn't as humid. There's a quick turnaround, so recovery will be important. Guys have to hydrate as much as they can and probably not put in as much in the training sessions.
Rishabh Pant: We had a good total on the board. We were a little off with our execution but sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition. Miller and van der Dussen played well. We thought the slower ones were working in the first innings but the wicket got better as the game went on. We were very happy with the total on the board. If next time we are in the same situation, we'll try to execute our plans better.
Rassie van der Dussen: (On how he is feeling) Pretty good. We had a good week of preparation. Bit sticky there in the middle but David is such a brilliant player. He pulled me through that patch and we knew if we were there together at the end, we would get it done. I always knew I was just two boundaries away. It was not because of a lack of intent. Sometimes, it just does not come off. In these phases, you have to be mentally tough. Avesh put me under a lot of pressure and did not miss his mark at all. David played so well and pulled me through that patch. I was doing what has worked for me in the past few years. I feel if I can face 40-50 balls, I know I can take the team home. (On batting in the powerplay) Dwaine had clear instructions. He gave us that flying start and momentum. Brilliant innings from him. We knew if we batted well, we could chase this. The key was not to panic and having that trust in whoever was out there.
South Africa win by 7 wickets.
Rassie van der Dussen - 75 * (36) | David Miller - 64 * (31) Ishan Kishan - 76 (48) | Hardik Pandya - 31* (12)
Game, set and match for the South Africans. A mammoth unbeaten 131-run stand between Miller and van der Dussen takes them home from a position that looked unfathomable at one point. The hosts must have been confident after posting 211 on the board and rightly so, but the visitors have snatched a win from the jaws of defeat tonight.
South Africa lost Bavuma early in the run chase, while de Kock wasn't at his usual free-flowing best. The decision to send Pretorius at one down worked like a charm for the Proteas as he injected some impetus into the innings with his cameo to get his side back on track in this run chase. There were plenty of ebbs and flows from there on, as India pegged things back and took control in the middle overs.
David Miller continued his purple patch as he shouldered the responsibility to keep up with the run rate while Rassie van der Dussen was struggling at 22 off 25. However, his fortunes changed quickly as he went through a range of emotions in that innings. Iyer dropped a dolly at deep mid-wicket to hand him a lifeline while he was at 29 off 30 in the 16th over and RvD made sure to cash in.
With 64 needed off the last five overs, the Proteas managed to get there with five balls to spare. RvD flicked a switch while Miller went about his business as usual. After what seemed like a lean passage of play in the middle overs, in hindsight, it was a brilliantly calculated run chase from the pair of RvD and Miller. It was one of the best match-winning partnerships you'll witness in T20 cricket, setting the marker for the rest of the series already.
A day to forget for the Indian bowlers and not the best of games for Rishabh Pant on his captaincy debut. He'll wait for his assessment of the game at the presentation. Stick around!
19.1 Yuzvendra Chahal to Rassie van der Dussen, FOUR! THAT WILL BE THAT! Looped up on a length on leg stump and Rassie has decided a month ago that he wants to play the reverse. He gets into position and crunches it over backward point for a boundary to seal the deal! Resounding in the end but India will go back knowing they have botched this up big time!
Yuzvendra Chahal [2.0-0-22-0] is back into the attack
It's all happening for South Africa now. India have been left shell-shocked after this assault from the visitors. 116 runs have come of the last 8 overs. India are starting the final over on time, so they can have five fielders outside the circle if they want. Bold call from Pant.

18.6 Harshal Patel to Rassie van der Dussen, full toss on middle and off stump. Rassie shuffles across his stumps and helps the ball down to the fielder at short fine leg for a scrambled single
18.5 Harshal Patel to Rassie van der Dussen, FOUR NOW! THE WHEELS ARE COMING OFF! Back of a length delivery outside off stump that hurries the batter. Rassie swings at it anyway and gets it past short third man for four
India have nothing to lose, so Pant reviews. Hang on though, this looks much closer on a second look! Oh, man. That is cruel. The impact hasn't gone in India's favor because the distance was more 3 meters. The crowds have just seen the replay on the big screens and they can't believe it.
18.4 Harshal Patel to Rassie van der Dussen, HUGE APPEAL! Low full toss on middle and off stump. Rassie is a week early into his stroke again and gets rapped on the pad right in front. The umpire says no and India review! If there is not bat involved, Rassie is a goner! Flat line as the ball passes the bat and the impact is in line too! But it is Umpire's Call because Rassie has advanced and is 3m down the track!
18.3 Harshal Patel to Rassie van der Dussen, slower delivery on a full length outside off stump. Rassie advances and looks to go downtown but misses it by an absolute mile. He did not pick that one!
18.2 Harshal Patel to David Miller, low full toss on middle and off stump. Miller comes forward and tucks the ball off his toes towards the sweeper at deep backward square leg for one
18.1 Harshal Patel to David Miller, very full delivery just outside off stump. Miller clears his front leg but can only scuff the ball down the ground towards the bowler. Vital dot ball!
When it rains, it pours. It's raining in Mumbai right now and it's raining boundaries in Delhi. South Africa have changed the course of this game in a matter of a few overs. 75 runs coming off the last five overs. Yes, you read that right. 12 needed off 12 now.
