Yuzvendra Chahal is the man of the match for his match-winning performance of 3/20 in his 4 overs

Chahal: I was bowling too many sliders and quicker ones in the previous games. Post that, I went back and spoke to the coaches and changed my seam position. Getting the ball to spin and dipping it is my strength and I tried bowling slower today, adding my strengths with it. When the batters try to reverse sweep, it gets a bit tough for the bowlers but now I have plans for that and set fields accordingly. I didn't bowl well in the previous games and the coaches just told me to back my strengths. Only positive is that ground at Rajkot is much bigger (chuckles)

Rishabh Pant (India captain): We spoke about the execution and it was spot on from both the bowlers and the batters. We were 15 runs short, but we didn't think much about that. In India, spinners always play a key role in the middle overs. Pressure is always there on them and we get performances like these when they come good. After a good start, it is always tough for a new batter to go straight away. We lost wickets in clusters and will look to improve on that aspect

Temba Bavuma (South Africa captain): As a collective, it wasn't our best performance, they (India) were the better team today. They put us under pressure in the first 10 overs and we did well in the second half of the first innings to keep them under 180 runs. Our fielding wasn't up to the mark and the batting didn't really stand up. We couldn't string partnerships and we lacked momentum. We tried to assess the conditions, and get some momentum when we walked out to bat, but we lost three quick wickets and were put under pressure. Quinny is an integral part of the team unfortunately, he isn't available for us. Reeza is a good option at the top of the order and we will continue to back him

Harshal Patel: (How did you like your performance) Pretty good. We wanted to execute certain plans. It was a must-win game for us and happy that I managed to do it (execute plans) this game. You follow the process and they stand true whether you do well or not. Those are the things that carry you during your bad phases. There are certain goals in our bowling group and you want to continue working to achieve them. In the first game, I went to yorkers early and did not back hard lengths enough. In the last two games, I focussed on hard lengths and forced them to hit through the line, and it worked out pretty well. This was a quite slow pitch. It was not as good as Kotla. It was not doing anything laterally but it was definitely not as quick as the Delhi pitch. So it was easier to bowl hard lengths and get away with it. An all-around performance from the hosts here at Vizag. They were clinical with the bat in hand, clinical with the ball in hand and were clinical in the field too. This is the complete performance that India and captain, Rishabh Pant were looking at and they have finally achieved it in this third ODI. A little stat attack here: This is India's 2nd win against South Africa at home and Rishabh Pant's first as the Indian captain.

180 was going to be tough on a pitch that was going to get slower as the match progressed and how the powerplay was going to pan out was important for both sides. South Africa didn't have the best of the starts in the powerplay as Bhuvneshwar Kumar tormented the Proteas openers with his swing. Temba Bavuma, being too desperate to get off the blocks, chipped on towards Gaikwad and that's where South Africa lost the first wicket in the powerplay. Harshal Patel then bowled the last over of the powerplay and accounted for the wicket of Reeza Hendricks.

Through the course of the middle overs, the Proteas batters found the going tough and couldn't execute their shots. van der Dussen and Pretorius were dismissed in a span of a couple of overs as they looked to play their strokes with scoreboard pressure mounting on them. David Miller, tormentor in chief at Delhi, was dismissed cheaply and the last match's hero, Klassen, gave India a little scare before holed out in the deep. Post that it was Wayne Parnell, who tried hard, but ran out of partners at the other end.

This was a superlative bowling performance from India if we are to compare it with the last couple of games. Barring Avesh Khan, every bowler chipped in with a wicket. Axar Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up a wicket each as the duo constrained the flow of runs and built-up pressure with dot deliveries. Harshal Patel picked up 4 wickets, including those of David Miller and Reeza Hendricks. Yuzvendra Chahal stole the thunder with the ball in hand as he picked up 3 crucial wickets of Pretorius, van der Dussen and the dangerous Heinrich Klassen.
