India clinch the series 2-0!
India clinically wrap up the series courtesy a 78-run victory over Sri Lanka. The hosts were rarely troubled throughout the encounter as they simply had too much in their tank, as compared to the Islanders. The Men In Blue rode on strong performances by Dhawan, Rahul, Pandey and Shardul with the willow whereas the likes of Saini and Washington also popped up with crucial wickets in the second innings.

As for Sri Lanka, de Silva and Mathews provided a brief rear-guard action, although that was terminated the minute the latter was sent packing. Thereafter, the former waged a lone battle, a battle that he eventually lost when Saini got the better of him.

More alarmingly for the visitors though, they seemed clueless throughout the series, considering they rarely had any answers for the questions India posed. And, that, could be an enormous source of concern moving forward. India, meanwhile, showed enough courage to shuffle their pack and they came up trumps, meaning that they strengthened their credentials for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Saini finishes it off in style!
Saini bowls another rapid back of a length delivery and Malinga is at least a week late on that shot. He still goes ahead with the pull and only manages a slice that is pouched safely by Kohli at mid-off.
15.5 OUT! Caught. Navdeep Saini to Lasith Malinga. Back of a length, outside off stump backing away pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid off, by Kohli.
15.4 Navdeep Saini to Lahiru Kumara. Full toss, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to third man for 1 run, fielded by Sundar.
And, the commentator's curse strikes!
De Silva backs away and tries to cart a short delivery outside the off-stump over point. But, he just gets a little late on the delivery and that means that he only manages to slice the ball towards third man. Bumrah comes around and completes the catch safely. Exceptional innings by de Silva though.
15.3 OUT! Caught. Navdeep Saini to Dhananjaya de Silva. Back of a length, outside off stump backing away cutting, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to third man, by Bumrah.
De Silva continues his lone battle!
De Silva walks across his stumps and clips a full-length delivery past square leg to fetch himself four runs. The all-rounder has looked a cut above the rest of the Islanders' batsmen tonight.
15.2 FOUR! Navdeep Saini to Dhananjaya de Silva. Yorker, outside off stump moves in front flick, well timed past deep backward square leg for 4 runs.
15.1 Navdeep Saini to Dhananjaya de Silva. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot pulling, to mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Kohli.
Washington gets Sandakan!
Sandakan decides to dance down the track and smash one all the way to Mumbai. Unfortunately though, his almighty swing fails to connect with a length delivery as Samson comfortably whips off the bails with the Sri Lanka out of his ground.
Over 15 | Summary: 1 1 2 2 1 W Bowler: W Sundar SL: 118/8(RR 7.87)
14.6 OUT! Stumped. Washington Sundar to Lakshan Sandakan. Off break length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, missed to wicketkeeper, by Samson.
14.5 Washington Sundar to Dhananjaya de Silva. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the back foot driving, to deep cover for 1 run, fielded by Rahul.
14.4 Washington Sundar to Dhananjaya de Silva. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, to deep mid wicket for 2 runs, fielded by Iyer.
Fifty for de Silva!
De Silva whips a delivery into the leg-side and scampers through for a brace. In the process, he completes his fifty off 31 balls. Classy innings by the all-rounder. And, perhaps, should bat a lot higher than some of the other reckless batsmen on display tonight.
14.3 Washington Sundar to Dhananjaya de Silva. Off break back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot sweeping, to deep square leg for 2 runs, run save by Chahal, fielded by Rahul.
14.2 Washington Sundar to Lakshan Sandakan. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, to point for 1 run, fielded by Thakur.
14.1 Washington Sundar to Dhananjaya de Silva. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the front foot working, to deep mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Rahul.
Over 14 | Summary: . . 1wd W . W 1 Bowler: S Thakur SL: 111/7(RR 7.93)
13.6 Shardul Thakur to Dhananjaya de Silva. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Steer, to third man for 1 run, fielded by Bumrah.
And, now Chahal runs Hasaranga out!
Hasaranga times a full toss straight to Chahal at mid off and sets off for a run. Rather astonishingly, he continues jogging for his entire journey, despite the threat of a run out looming. And, Chahal makes him pay with a direct hit, that catches him short of his ground. Maybe could've made his ground had he been more proactive. And, while India have outclassed the Sri Lankans on occasions, there aren't any excuses the Islanders can forward for such bits of cricket. Quite exasperating from a Sri Lankan perspective.
13.5 OUT! Run Out. Shardul Thakur to Wanindu Hasaranga. Full toss, off stump on the front foot driving, to mid off, direct hit by Chahal.
13.4 Shardul Thakur to Wanindu Hasaranga. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot defending, to short extra cover for no runs, fielded by Kohli.
Shardul gets the better of Shanaka!
Shardul bowls a length delivery at the stumps and Shanaka looks to go over the top. However, he is extremely late on the ball and the delivery strikes the bat near the maker's name. The ball just lobs towards Shardul completes the easiest of catches on his follow through.
13.3 OUT! Caught & Bowled. Shardul Thakur to Dasun Shanaka. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot pulling, Spliced in the air uncontrolled to silly mid on, by Thakur.
13.3 Wide Shardul Thakur to Dasun Shanaka. Length ball, wide outside off stump on the front foot driving, missed to wicketkeeper for 1 run, fielded by Samson.
13.2 Shardul Thakur to Dasun Shanaka. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Samson.
13.1 Shardul Thakur to Dasun Shanaka. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot defending, to mid off for no runs, fielded by Chahal.
