Player of the match (Jhulan Goswami): Well it was pretty challenging because coming back after a year and playing a series against one of the competitive sides such as South Africa I was trying to hit the ball in the right areas. I always share my mantra with all the players, today Mansi has bowled well too. The world cup will be played next year and it is important for me to be fit and very strong and play as many matches as possible.
Mithali Raj (Indian Skipper): It started with winning the toss, the first few overs were crucial for us with the ball as it benefited our fast bowlers. Jhulan Goswami and Mansi Joshi bowled well at the start to get the wickets early on. The spinners took their time but they did find their rhythm in the middle overs. We sat down and analyzed and looked for what was needed, we did take some time to get the momentum going as well.
Sune Luus (South African Skipper): Yea I think we would like to commend Indian bowlers as well, in the first 15 overs I think there was something on offer in the wicket. At the end of the day, our batters did not apply ourselves like we wanted too and I think it just comes down to the shots selection and execution. Yea I think in the 2nd innings, 200-220 would have been a defendable total for us. And today was a lot harder day out in the field.

After the 5th over, the flow of runs slowed down for India as Raut looked to find her middle ground. Smriti as well to some risky singles but they were majorly kept quiet till the 10th over by the South African bowlers. Smriti finally broke the shackles as she hit the first boundary after 47 balls.
