It cost them a couple of wickets, but Friendship CC took just over half the number of allotted overs to get past the target. Indian Royals were down and pretty much out after the first innings, but there were some hopes ignited after the end of the first over. But then, Ashraful Rupu and Md Nazrul Islam came together and took the game away from the Royals completely, smashing the bowling to all parts.

John Zinkus produced possibly the ball of the tournament, getting it to swing in and seam away from Asaduzzaman and cleaned him up. He kept it down to 4 in the first over, keeping things just about in balance. But Suryawanshi wasn't able to keep it going, missing his line and length, and Rupu took him on with success. Nazrul got in on the act soon after, and a Friendship CC win was a mere formality from thereon. Parminder Singh produced some magic on the field off his own bowling to send Rupu packing, but it was too late by then. Friendship CC take the honours in the first ECS game of the day!
