So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Aryasekhar Chakraborty. Do join us tomorrow for a lot more cricketing action. There are a couple of ODIs, ECL cricket all lined up. The most exciting part about Friday is the fact that the opening fixture of the IPL between CSK and GT is also scheduled for tomorrow! Until next time, adios!
Upul Tharanga (Guwahati Avengers captain): It was an amazing series. It has been a good experience here. First few games, we gave a tough time to the players. After that, we played really good cricket.
Sreesanth (Indore Knights captain): Absolutely, I want to congratulate both the teams and the entire party here. For me personally, this is one of the best tournaments I have played. It is a great honour for me to share the podium with Upul Tharanga. I have to mention the organisers who have done so well. Please make us a part of it and we will make it a better tournament!
Phil Mustard: Just tried to smash anywhere and smash it. Yeah, Sreesanth has been pretty good. He made us express ourselves.
Phil Mustard has been named as the 'Man of the Series'
Varun Khanna is the 'Best Bowler of the Series' award!
Bhanu Seth gets the 'Best Batsman of the Series' award!
Sreesanth bags the 'Best Fielder of the Series' award!
Presentation ceremony coming up!
Unfortunately the match has been finally been abandoned!
11:10 PM IST- Rain has returned again and it is highly unlikely that we will have a match. Still awaiting the official confirmation.
Great news here! The covers have been removed. We are waiting for the next update from the umpires!
Update: Seems like the rain has stopped. The super-sopper is being used to dry the out-field now!
Rain is pouring down at the stadium and there are patches around. So, looks like there will be a long delay!
It is now time to look at Guwahati Avengers who played out a thrilling super-over in the second semi-final against Vizag Titans to make the summit clash. After deciding to bowl first, Guwahati's players answered the captain's call superbly as they restricted Vizag to just 145 with Tino Best being the pick of the lot. Best registered figures of 4-0-18-4 with the Barbadian showing plethora of variations to deceive the batsmen. In reply, skipper Upul Tharanga compiled a neat 56-run knock but he didn't get enough support from his partners as the regular ended as a tie.
In the super over, Vishu Khatri batted all the six balls and made 16 runs to pose a massive challenge to Vizag. Stuart Binny and Thisara Perera came out to bat but Anureet Singh and Tharanga held their nerve with the latter running out Perera off the last ball while the Vizag duo tried to steal a bye. This ensured Guwahati sneaked home with a ran to spare!
Indore Knights faced off against the unbeaten Chandigarh Champs in the first semi-final and they beat them by seven wickets. Sunil starred with a four-wicket haul as Indore initially restricted Chandigarh to 167/8. Then, Phil Mustard smashed the opposition bowling attack to all parts of the ground as he scored 84 off just 31 balls. Deepak Sharma also gave him good company by making an unbeaten 46-run knock as Indore reached the final with 17 balls to spare.
Overall, Mustard leads the batting charts for the tournament with 256 runs while Deepak Sharma isn't far away with 184 runs. The pair of Dilshan Munaweera and Parvinder Singh are two other main batters for the side. With the ball, Sunil has been consistent with 12 scalps from six matches. Kapil Rana and Jitendra Giri have been impressive too with seven and six wickets respectively.
Hello and welcome to the final of the KhiladiX Legends Cricket Trophy which will see Indore Knights take on Guwahati Avengers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Ghaziabad. It will be myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Aryasekhar Chakraborty who will take you all through the proceedings of this fixture!
