That's it from us. See y'all tomorrow - do join us for the 'Royal' game between Rajasthan and Bangalore at Jaipur!
Man of the Match, Sam Curran: "This has been a great win for the guys. Luckily enough, we scraped to 166, all the six bowlers were excellent. I have worked on my batting over the last few months. (On opening the batting) I like to work hard on my batting, bowling and fielding. I have opened in school cricket before, but I think that was the first time in professional cricket. Hopefully, we keep winning games. I didn't really know (about the hat-trick)"
"Not may times do you defend a target like this. When Rishabh hit the six, we just needed to hang in there. Credit to Shami and Curran. We were probably 25 runs short but we backed ourselves to defend with three spinners. All in all, dew also came in and played a factor. We were gonna bat first. We have to keep ourselves fresh. We are having a very good experience. I have never seen a crowd like this in Mohali," says an extremely happy Ravi Ashwin.
"It's going to be really important to stay motivated," says Iyer. It's going to be really difficult.
"Really disappointing. We didn't play smart cricket. Losing such matches won't benefit us in the end," says a distraught Iyer.
It's a hat-trick! Sam Curran breaks into a little bhangra with Preity Zinta by the ropes. From 144-3, the Delhi side have been bundled out for 152. This has been harakiri from the Capitals.
19.2 OUT! Bowled. Sam Curran to Sandeep Lamichhane. Yorker, middle stump backing away driving, missed to.
19.1 OUT! Bowled. Sam Curran to Kagiso Rabada. Yorker, middle stump on the front foot driving, missed to. Perfect yorker. Nothing Rabada could do except hear the sound of the ball hitting the stumps. This has been a crazy finish.
It's still lightyears to go for this IPL to take shape, but to be honest, Kings XI are playing like champions.
Over 19 DC: 152/8(RR 8.00) Bowler: M Shami Summary: . . W . 4 . |
18.6 Mohammed Shami to Avesh Khan. Short, outside off stump backing away hooking, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Rahul.
18.5 FOUR! Mohammed Shami to Avesh Khan. Full toss, outside off stump backing away driving, well timed past deep cover for 4 runs. Much needed boundary for Delhi. Slashed out to cover, not the best looking stroke but they all count.
18.4 Mohammed Shami to Avesh Khan. Back of a length, outside off stump backing away Slog, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Rahul.
18.3 OUT! Bowled. Mohammed Shami to Hanuma Vihari. Length ball, outside off stump Slog, missed to.
18.2 Mohammed Shami to Hanuma Vihari. Back of a length, off stump backing away pulling, mis-timed back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Shami.
Shami's hit the timber, once again. Vihari goes now too. What is happening here?
18.1 Mohammed Shami to Hanuma Vihari. Back of a length, outside off stump backing away defending, to silly mid off for no runs, fielded by Shami.
What a turnaround it's proving to be!
The visitors have lost four wickets for four runs in the last nine deliveries.
Over 18 DC: 148/7(RR 8.22) Bowler: S Curran Summary: 1 1 1 W . 1wd W |
17.6 OUT! Caught. Sam Curran to Harshal Patel. Length ball, to leg backing away Slog, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Rahul.
What an over from Sam Curran!
He changed the game against RR in the very first game for Kings XI, and he's taken a couple of wickets here as well, including the scalp of Colin Ingram.
This is why we come to watch this game. Absolute madness!
17.6 Wide Sam Curran to Harshal Patel. Short, down leg side moves in front Scoop, Play and Miss (Leg Side) to wicketkeeper for 1 run, fielded by Rahul.
17.5 Sam Curran to Harshal Patel. Length ball, middle stump on the back foot driving, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Rahul.
17.4 OUT! Caught (Sub). Sam Curran to Colin Ingram. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control to long off.
17.3 Sam Curran to Hanuma Vihari. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot Steer, to point for 1 run, fielded by Singh.
Sam Curran is hitting the right lengths. It's all up to him now, to finish this well.
17.2 Sam Curran to Colin Ingram. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to deep backward point for 1 run, fielded by Ashwin.
17.1 Sam Curran to Hanuma Vihari. Back of a length, down leg side on the front foot working, to square leg for 1 run.
Sam Curran returns for just his second over. Can he keep it tight?
