And finally, it's time to wind up the coverage and say goodnight and goodbye. Thanks for tuning in. Do join us tomorrow for the match between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Mumbai Indians.
Winning captain Raina says, "Smith and Ishan gave the platform and 185 was chasable. It was all about 6-over partnership. Sandeep and Mohit bowled brilliantly. After a good start, it was important to rotate the strike and I think me and DK did that well. Too many injuries but I am sure that the youngsters will learn from the mistakes."
And finally, the Man of the Match: Dwayne Smith (74 runs off 39 balls)
Yes Bank Maximum sixes award: Hashim Amla(5 sixes)
Vivo Perfect Catch of the match award: David Miller
It is now time for some awards:
For the Gujarat Lions, the win means that they will not finish at the bottom most position in the table because the Royal Challengers Bangalore have glued themselves to the eighth place, their worst ever position. The GL have now jumped to the 6th place with 8 points to their name and have 2 games to go.
Amongst the bowlers, all of them endured a tough time on the field. Barring Sandeep Sharma, none of them seemed to have any clue about how to stopping the leakage of runs. The loss puts KXIP in a spot of bother. They will now have to win all their three games if they have to qualify for the play-off stages.
Kings XI Punjab were totally paltry with their fielding and the bowlers did not have a clue to pick up wickets. Credit to Dwayne Smith, his remarkable cameo, and also his best knock this season never let the required rate spike over 9 an over. Skipper Raina and experienced campaigner Karthik chipped in with valuable contributions and the latter ensured that they crossed the line without further hiccups.
Gujarat Lions have played a spoilsport here. Kings XI Punjab will be ruing the missed chances. They could have put the game to bed long back but they failed to take their chances and have paid for it. Time and again, the popular quote pops up, "Catches win matches."
19.4 FOUR! T Natarajan to Dinesh Karthik. Off cutter length ball, to leg on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past deep extra cover for 4 runs. That is it, Karthik lofts it without any worries and the ball runs to the boundary after a couple of bounces.
19.3 T Natarajan to Dinesh Karthik. Full toss, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Saha.
Just 2 runs required now. 4 balls remaining.
19.2 T Natarajan to Ravindra Jadeja. Off cutter half volley, to leg on the front foot working, to long on for 1 run.
19.2 Wide T Natarajan to Ravindra Jadeja. Yorker, down leg side on the front foot working, Play and Miss (Leg Side) to wicketkeeper for 1 run, fielded by Saha. They might win it in wides.
19.2 Wide T Natarajan to Ravindra Jadeja. Yorker, down leg side on the front foot, Left to wicketkeeper for 1 run, fielded by Saha.
19.1 T Natarajan to Dinesh Karthik. Full toss, wide outside off stump on the front foot pushing, to deep cover for 3 runs, fielded by Singh, mis-fielded by Natarajan. This is unacceptable. KXIP have let themselves down with their fielding.
Last over. 8 runs to get. Still, a difficult task to predict the winner. Have seen so many close games this season and 8 runs is defendable. All down to the nerves now.

Over Summary: 1 6 4 1 2 2
18.6 Varun Aaron to Ravindra Jadeja. Full toss, middle stump on the front foot working, to deep mid wicket for 2 runs, fielded by Guptill. Eight required off the final over. Who will Maxwell give the ball to.
18.5 Varun Aaron to Ravindra Jadeja. Off cutter back of a length, down leg side on the back foot cutting, to backward point for 2 runs, fielded by Marsh, mis-fielded by Aaron.
18.4 Varun Aaron to Dinesh Karthik. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to long off for 1 run, fielded by Maxwell.
18.3 FOUR! Varun Aaron to Dinesh Karthik. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed in the air under control past deep backward point for 4 runs. Karthik you beauty! Swings the game in the Lions' favour.
18.2 SIX! Varun Aaron to Dinesh Karthik. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, top edge in the air uncontrolled over fine leg for 6 runs. The pace of Aaron is costing KXIP. Short ball and the pace takes the top edge all the way.
18.1 Varun Aaron to Ravindra Jadeja. Length ball, down leg side on the front foot pushing, to deep backward point for 1 run.
The Kings XI are not giving up on this. Not after what happened in the last 2 overs. It's probably going to be a nail-biting encounter.
OVER

Runs Scored: 4
Bowler: Sandeep Sharma
Score after 18 overs: 166/4(rr 9.22)
Over Summary: W 1 2 W . 1
17.6 APPEAL! Sandeep Sharma to Ravindra Jadeja. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to long on for 1 run, fielded by Maxwell, by Saha, appeal made for Run Out. Gujarat Lions don't want to be losing anymore wickets. Nearly a mix-up between the two batsmen but Jadeja has sent Karthik back just in time.
17.5 Sandeep Sharma to Ravindra Jadeja. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, inside edge to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Saha. What was he thinking? Shimmies down the track and attempts a mighty heave. Luckily the ball misses the bat and the stumps as well.
17.4 OUT! Caught. Sandeep Sharma to Aaron Finch. Bouncer, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, top edge to wicketkeeper, by Saha. A well directed slower bouncer and Finch is undone by that. Sensational stuff from Sharma.
