KXIP vs RR Match Result
- IPL 2020 Match 32
Kings XI Punjab
182/6 (20.0 ov)
170/7 (20.0 ov)
Kings XI Punjab won by 12 runs
Player of the match:
That's it then from this game. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Do join us back tomorrow and CSK take on SRH but until then, it's a goodbye from us!
Ravichandran Ashwin (Man of the Match)
: Very important to get into the 10-point category and very important to catch momentum. It's tough to defend on this ground. I thought we were 10-15 runs short on this pitch. Akshdeep bowled well and executed his plans well against Jos Buttler in the powerplay. [On his variations] I worked on a lot of things but I've lived and died by the sword. Most of our changes have been forced. We got Moises into the side today, he was handed the cap but unfortunately he dived off the last minute. Miller came in and played a vital hand. Everything happens for the good and hopefully going into Delhi, what suits best there.
: 182 on that wicket was chasable. It was a mattered of two sixes. Stuart [Binny] in the end was brilliant. Our bowling unit bowled well. Yes, the last over was crucial but it was a good game of cricket. You cannot lose too many wickets in clusters in a chase like this. Tripathi was struggling in the middle and I could bat in the middle and take the game with the set batsmen.
The chase started in manic style as Jos Buttler went after the new-ball bowlers before debutant Arshdeep Singh sent the English wicket-keeper back to the pavilion. Samson and Tripathi were going well but they slowed down in the middle. The pressure mounted and both of them eventually fell. The others batters couldn't deal with the pressure and hence, RR kept losing wickets. Stuart Binny tried his best to raise a few hopes but it was always going to be a big ask. Hence, in the end, KXIP won by 12 runs. Both Ashwins were brilliant and despite the pacers being expensive, they did the job.
Boundary to finish but
KXIP win by 12 runs
! Excellent last over from Shami and some bit of power-hitting from Binny goes in vain.
RR: 170/7(RR 8.50)

19.5 Mohammed Shami to Stuart Binny. Slower ball half volley, to leg backing away driving, to deep extra cover for 2 runs, fielded by Agarwal.
Really good last over so far and KXIP have the game in the bag.
19.4 Mohammed Shami to Stuart Binny. Yorker, to leg backing away driving, mis-timed to long on for 2 runs, fielded by Agarwal.
19.3 Mohammed Shami to Stuart Binny. Length ball, off stump on the front foot driving, in the air under control to long off for 2 runs, fielded by Agarwal.

Another wicket goes and it's Shreyas Gopal who tried to clear long-on and got a leading edge.
19.1 OUT! Caught. Mohammed Shami to Shreyas Gopal. Length ball, middle stump backing away driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep extra cover, by Agarwal.
RR still in the contest? Binny hit a couple of lusty blows there and it has been reduced to 23 off the final over.
RR: 160/6(RR 8.42)

18.6 SIX! Arshdeep Singh to Stuart Binny. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs.

18.4 SIX! Arshdeep Singh to Stuart Binny. Slower ball back of a length, middle stump on the front foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs.
And Rahane goes! He had no choice but to swing at some and hope he connects. He gets a top-edge which is safe pouched by Shami who ran across from short third-man.
18.3 OUT! Caught. Arshdeep Singh to Ajinkya Rahane. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, top edge in the air uncontrolled to short third man, by Shami.
18.2 Arshdeep Singh to Ajinkya Rahane. Length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, mis-timed to deep extra cover for 2 runs, mis-fielded by Miller.
18.1 Arshdeep Singh to Ajinkya Rahane. Slower length ball, outside off stump moves in front Slog, leading edge to silly mid on for no runs, fielded by Singh.
Despite those big hits, just 13 off the over and RR now need 37 off the last 12 balls. Big over coming up and it has to travel the distance if RR are to get any closer.
RR: 146/5(RR 8.11)

17.5 Mohammed Shami to Stuart Binny. Half volley, to leg backing away driving, to mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Miller.
Four followed by six and Binny is turning it on here. However, Shami isn't learning as he continues to bang the ball in short and Binny is feasting on them.
17.4 SIX! Mohammed Shami to Stuart Binny. Short, outside off stump on the back foot flick, well timed in the air under control over fine leg for 6 runs.
17.3 FOUR! Mohammed Shami to Stuart Binny. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs.
