Skippers' Comments:

Steve Smith (RR Captain):
We thought 180 was par. But losing four in the first four didn't help. Cummins bowled nice lengths and made us play big shots. Unfortunately we are at the wrong end of the result. We started well with two wins, we won two before this one but we were inconsistent in the middle we didn't take enough responsibility. Couple of positives for us, Jofra has played exceptionally well for us. Tewatia pulled a few out of the hat for us, bowled exceptionally well through the tournament as well. You need to win those you should win. The BCCI and everyone involved to get this tournament up and running have done a fantastic job. Hope we were able to put few smiles on people's faces, especially in India where it's been tough.

Eoin Morgan: I thought it was around a par score. Every batsman who came back in and said that it was a beautiful wicket with the dew in. We lost wickets between 10th and 15th overs, and to finish like we did was really good. We were out there to be play a free-flowing style of cricket. That was the only way we were going to win. Especially with the dew factor expected anyways, irrespective of when it came. Bringing out Dre Russ in meant that it took the conditions out of the equation. We backed the guys to take a bit of risk even if it wasn't there. That was one thing we talked about, leading into this game. We felt that a hard length or a good length was the best spot to bowl. We tried to execute that in the first six overs and I thought Mavi was outstanding. Obviously Pat set the tone early on. Winning the game was about taking wickets, especially early. RR are a side that are top-heavy and you need to get them early. Having that aggressive mindset was important for us. Yes, I was aware of the numbers but you need to first get yourself into a winning position. I don't think we could have done anything more today. So whatever happens from here is upto the Gods.
Kolkata Knight Riders beat Rajasthan Royals by 60 runs!

The Rajasthan Royals' innings never got going as they lost five wickets within the powerplay itself! Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi breathed fire with the new ball in hand and were the prime conspirators behind RR's batting collapse. After clobbering 19 runs off the first over, it seemed that the Royals would make short wok of this total. However, Cummins made a brilliant comeback and got Uthappa to flick one straight into the hands of the fielder at deep square leg.

A screamer by Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps saw Stokes' innings come to an end while Steve Smith chopped one back onto the sticks on the last ball of the over to hand Cummins his third wicket. The fall of wickets at the beginning completely derailed their chase and RR never seemed to stage a comeback after that.Shivam Mavi bowled a tight length and got Sanju Samson to edge one to the keeper and that was followed by a well-directed bouncer by Cummins which sent Riyan Parag packing. Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia found themselves at the crease much earlier than they would have expected to and did well to stitch together a gritty 43-run partnership.

Varun Chakravarthy impressed with the ball yet again as he enticed Buttler into playing the big shot which ended up going straight down the throat of the fielder and the Englishman had to depart for a 22-ball 35.

Rahul Tewatia was RR's last hope but he too fell to some clever bowling by Chakravarthy and was sent back to the pavilion for a 27-ball 31. A flurry of wickets feel towards the back end of the innings. Jofra Archer chipped one in the air off Kamlesh Nagarkoti while Kartik Tyagi was dismissed by Shivam Mavi. Shreyas Gopal remained unbeaten for a run-a-ball 23 and that allowed the Rajasthan Royals to play out their 20 overs without being bowled out.

Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers, returning with envious figures of 4-34 from his four overs while Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakravarthy contributed with a couple of wickets each. Kamlesh Nagarkoti too snared a wicket.

With the result of this match, the Kolkata Knight Riders jump to the fourth position on the points table while the Rajasthan Royals finish the tournament at the eighth position. The Knight Riders will watch the two upcoming contests with great interest as those will decide whether or not they qualify for the playoffs.

19.4 Kamlesh Nagarkoti to Varun Aaron, length ball on the stumps, tries to make room and go hard but mistimes it to extra cover

A brilliant penultimate over by Mavi as he conned just two runs while picking up a wicket too! Just a solitary over remaining now and RR will be disappointed with their performance today and will rue the missed opportunity to win this contest and have a shot at qualifying for the playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals need 63 runs off the last over at 63 RPO

Kamlesh Nagarkoti to finish up proceedings!

18.3 Shivam Mavi to Kartik Tyagi, OUT! Full delivery on the stumps, sticks a bit on the wicket meaning he is a bit early on the shot and just lobs it up in the air back to the bowler.
