Kolkata Knight Riders won by 54 runs.
Player of the match: Andre Russell

That's all from the match center. Do join us tomorrow afternoon as Chennai Super Kings take on the table-toppers Gujarat Titans. The match will start at 03:30 p.m. IST, but, as always, our build-up will start much earlier. It's Bala and Shashwat Kumar signing off for now. Good night!
Well, then. It was poised to be a tight contest with the match being a must-win for both sides. But SRH went down without much of a fight in the end. Their NRR has taken a massive hit and it will be quite a task for them to get into the top four. KKR, on the other hand, has done what was in their hands to perfection. A win and a big boost to the net run rate. They need to win their final league game too in order to have a chance at the playoffs, but that's for another day.
Andre Russell (Player of the Match): When I went out there, batting wasn't easy. 165-170 was very good. We have a good bowling attack and two good spinners. My mindset is very clear when I go out to bat, not thinking about situations. My job is to go after it from ball one. Sometimes I hit the first ball in the nets for a six. When I saw 20 off 17 (balls) on the scoreboard, I thought, "that's not me", but you have to fight it out sometimes. Before the last ball (of the 19th over) I said: "Sunil, just try to get a boundary, but let me take strike in the last over". An offspinner bowling to a right-hander, it's like a. I got three full tosses and I did put them away. It's about making good contact with the ball. Being an all-rounder, it's always good to contribute in both departments like today.
Shreyas Iyer (captain, KKR): I feel that the mindset we came in with was outstanding. Boys played the right thing, fearless cricket. It was important to win the toss as well. Considering the wicket in Pune. teams batting first have won a lot of matches. We were going over by over, hoping to give Russell the maximum strike. We knew that Washi's (Washington Sundar) over was left and we were going to target it. Sam was giving good support from the other end. It worked out well for us in the end. 177 against them (the two spinners) is definitely over par. Sunny (Sunil Narine) and Varun (Chakravarthy) stepped up to the occasion. On this slow wicket, they bowled very smartly. The wickets in the middle were really valuable. We don't have anything to lose right now. We haven't played our A game in the league. Every individual wants to take the opportunity and win those moments in the game.
Abhishek Sharma collects the award for hitting the most number of fours in the match.
And to change things up a bit, Umran Malik gets the award for the fastest delivery of the match.
Andre Russell gets the "Super Striker" of the Match award! He is the "Game-Changer" of the match as well. Add the "most sixes" in the match award to that. And he is also the "power player" of the match. ++ "most valuable asset" of the match. Russell is going back with a lot of awards tonight.
Sunrisers Hyderabad 123/8 in 20 overs | Abhishek Sharma 43(28), Aiden Markram 32(25) | Andre Russell 3/22 (4), Tim Southee 2/23 (4)

What a clinical victory this has been for the Knight Riders. They needed a big victory coming into tonight's encounter and they have managed to do just that. A margin of 54 runs is huge, especially when it comes to T20 cricket. It has presented a massive boost to their net run rate.178 runs was a difficult chase indeed on this track. But the SRH batters never really seemed to be in the chase.

The struggle of Kane Williamson at the top cost them some valuable powerplay runs. A 31-run powerplay is way below par, especially when you are chasing such a total. Abhishek Sharma was the standout batter for the Hyderbad side. He took the attack to the spinners and blasted his way to 43 off just 28 balls before falling to Varun Chakravarthy. The only other batter who showed any semblance of getting going was Aiden Markram. He did not have much of support from the other end and fell in a bid to up the ante.

Andre Russell starred with the ball for KKR in the second innings, after top-scoring for them in the first. What a game it was for the Jamaican all-rounder. Figures of 3/22 to go with the 49* with the bat. All the bowlers were among the wickets for the Knight Riders. Southee picked up a couple and the other three bowlers took a wicket each.

SRH will be really disappointed with their effort with the bat. The chase wasn't easy, but they were never in the game during the chase. It looked like the batters did not have any real plan and it all went to shambles in the end.
Tim Southee (KKR): Great win. It was a must-win game for us. I have been long enough chance to understand that chances come and go, especially for the overseas players. I was ready for whenever the opportunity comes. When that comes, you need a little bit of luck and need to try to make most of it. It is tough to replicate the match conditions in the nets. Obviously, when you cross the field, you need to back yourselves. I have played for many sides over the years, and that helps as well. We played here a couple of games ago. It was a similar surface. Batting first, we put on a decent total. Back of a length was tough to hit on this pitch. Our two spinners bowled superbly. Narine bounced back brilliantly after the first two overs.
Kane Williamson: I thought largely the first half was reasonable. It was a fair total and clearly Dre Russ is a threat and he showed his class again. We didn't get momentum and did not create partnerships. Strong performance from KKR. In the last few matches, we have struggled to change the momentum of matches. We wanted to take wickets and use our resources to do that. It was always going to be the tough over and Washi stepped up and did a pretty decent job. It was a reasonable effort with the ball and certainly much improved. Obviously we wanted to get off to a decent start. Abhishek is hitting the ball beautifully and we wanted to get some momentum. There were some glimpses, some signs but it was not meant to be. We kept losing wickets when we wanted to take it deep and it was a bit of a shame. (On his personal form) I hit a few fielders, didn't get those away and then walked off. A bit of a learning for me as well

19.6 Andre Russell to Umran Malik, short delivery outside off stump. Umran has a massive swish across the line and only connects with the fresh Pune air! KKR still in it mathematically, SRH all but out it seems!
19.5 Andre Russell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, length delivery on leg stump. Kumar gets onto the front foot and drives the ball down the ground towards long on for a single
19.5 Andre Russell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, back of a length delivery down the leg side. Kumar looks to help it fine but is late on the stroke and misses. Called a wide by the umpire
19.4 Andre Russell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, very full delivery on middle and leg stump. Kumar makes a bit of room for himself and dabs the ball into the off side towards backward point
19.3 Andre Russell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, AHH! Back of a length delivery on middle and leg stump. Kumar looks for the upper cut but is late on the stroke as the ball goes past the bat
19.2 Andre Russell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, back of a length delivery on leg stump. Kumar gets onto the back foot and plays the ball into the on side towards short mid wicket
19.1 Andre Russell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, FOUR! OH HELLO! Length delivery outside off stump. Kumar plants his front foot and creams it over extra cover for a sumptuous boundary!
Comedy of errors in the middle. They can afford to laugh at this point, but they must be weary of such errors. It can cost you real bad in a tight game.

Final over of the innings coming up now. Can Andre Russell clean up the lower-order?
